Here is the plastic.

​ The plastic seems quite soft with a little bits of flash and seam lines mainly on the smaller parts that will need cleaning up.

​ Clear parts, not the best but will probably be ok as they are quite small.

The instructions aren’t too bad and should be easy enough to follow.

​Four nice colour schemes, I’m going for the French Air Force version.

The transfers look lovely, maybe Cartograph although it doesn’t say on them.

Should be a fairly straightforward build

Looks good mate, will follow along.
Think my Dad flew in an old Dakota in WW2 on the way to Burma, (part travel on ship and part by plane, and I'm sure quite a lot on foot!)
He wrote a poem about it years after the war and mentioned the plane in his poem....

I had the 'pleasure' of flying over the Channel in one. An aircraft that big the wings should not flap. lol.

Nice choice Geoff. One word of warning, the windshield is very tricky to fit and is prone to being pushed in when unmasking. As are some of the side windows which are single pieces.

Glad to have you following Peter. My Uncle was out in Burma too. I don’t know too many details unfortunately and he’s sadly no longer with us

The less “glamorous” but equally vital part of war. I’ve googled him, he sounds like he was quite a character

Well I’ve been quietly beavering away with this one.

I’ve cleaned up a lot of the parts ready for priming.


There was a bit of flash here and there and the usual seam lines.

The wings have been started but will also need a clean up.

The transparencies for the side windows left a lot to be desired, not sure if you can see from the picture but each one seemed to have some quite nasty distortion.

So I decided to try a trick I’ve seen a YouTuber Greg from “Greg’s Models use.

I wanted to get the windows to protrude beyond the frames which necessitated the insides to be thinned down a bit before the clear parts were cemented into place.

One this was done I slathered a bit of filler around the edges of the windows then once this was dry they were sanded back flush with the frames.

I taped around them to protect as much as possible while sanding.

They still need a bit of fine polishing but from what I can see do look a lot better.

I always think Dakota = D-Day. Even though Dakotas were used in so many roles and in so many theatres D-Day was where they really showed their worth.
Looks a nice kit. That's a good "trick" with the windows.

I’ve been making some progress with this now.
It’s not a particularly enjoyable build, typical Italeri poor fit.

I haven’t done too much with the interior other than painting it.

The crew entrance and cargo doors can be posed open but the interior isn’t particularly detailed and as I didn’t really feel the urge to add anymore detail I decided to glue them closed.

A fair bit of cleaning up around the seams and the wing join will need a bit more work.
