This will be my entry, a classic Mk.I Spitfire from the Battle of Britain.

It’s one of Eduards special Spitfire boxings and it contains x2 kits ( I’m only going for be building one) and marking options for x10 aircraft.

I will be building this one as it has a bit of a connection which I’ll explain more of later.

I won’t be starting just yet as I have a couple of builds on the bench which I need to finish first butI’m really looking forward to it.

Thank you to Colin for proposing the GB 👍

Thanks for looking.

Geoff.

Can I pick your brains Geoff? What colour are you going to use for the interior on your Spit?? Eduard suggest Aircraft Gray-Green for my Mk.IIa, but I always thought that the early Spitfires used a much lighter colour (the so called "apple green"), something more along the lines of FS34272? I also thought that Interior Gray-Green (IGG) was not introduced until about 1943? Any suggestions as to the best colour to use?

Hi mate,

I’m by no means a Spitfire expert but from what I understand the Apple Green colour was used to paint early Spitfire cockpits but these would have been the very early 1938-40 aircraft.

Apparently by around May 1940 new aircraft were having the cockpit finished in the familiar Grey-Green paint.

I think you should be safe going for the familiar Grey-Green colour in your Mk.II as these would have been post this time.

For mine I’m happy to go with that too unless I find any contradictory information out regarding Eric Locks aircraft.

Hope this helps 👍

Geoff.

An excellent choice Geoff, look forward to seeing it. You can't go wrong with a BofB mk.I.

I think what Geoff is correct, the early apple green was prewar. Gray-Green came in quite quickly.

This looks good Geoff, a Mk1 and an Eduard kit as well. I do like Eduard.

I’m a big fan of Eduard, I love their kits and the lovely glossy instructions- and they make such a good kit. Looking forward to this one too.
