Geoff’s 1/72 Arma Hobby Hurricane Mk.I

Well done getting yours sorted Tony :thumb2:

At least I know that it’s a problem with the kit and not something I did wrong.
It puzzled me really as like I said I have built Arma’s Mk.II version and it went together ok

Geoff.
The mk2 is a slightly different tooling from what ive seen geoff , the tail fin isnt seperate for a start , so maybe the cockpit is differently tooled too .

The Mk.I was Arma’s first release as I recall so I assume they must be tweaking and improving the kits as they go along.

Latest progress :smiling:

Not very exciting but necessary stages along the way.

Navigation and landing lights added and masked. Cockpit canopy also added and masked and all the seams cleaned up.
The pre-cut mask set was a great help to speed this stage up a bit, had to use masking fluid for the nav lights though.

After giving the canopy a covering of Interior Grey/Green it was on to priming with my usual choice of Mr Surfacer 1500 thinned 50/50 with SLT.

All done, no dramas :smiling3: the ancillary parts have also had the same treatment.

I’ll leave it for a while for the primer to cure properly then onto the best bit of painting the proper colours.

Another update soon, thanks for looking :thumb2:

Looking very sharp. A well detailed kit for its size. Fun starts soon.

I have bowed down and ordered a set of camo masks. I have painted a dozen or so Spitfire and no problems at all. The camo on the Hurricane is very much the same. but I just couldn't get the pattern to fit!

Thanks Ian, camo masks seem a sensible idea
Not something I’ve tried yet but I have a Spitfire set in the stash somewhere that I must give a go.

Looking excellent geoff , im at about the same stage with mine , cheers tony
Cheers Tony, yours is coming on great :thumb2:

Bit more done :smiling4:

I’m going to try some hairspray chipping on it so first thing was a coat of Vallejo Metal Colors Dull Aluminium followed with a coating of Tamiya Semi Gloss varnish to seal it in.

As you can see it’s mainly around the areas likely to suffer from chipping damage, the panels which are frequently removed and the wing leading edge.
Once the hairspray has dried properly I will start the top coat of paint.

Looking good, and after all that work in the cockpit you are going to seal it up - shame to hide so much work.

Yep, looking good Geoff:thumb2:
I'm at a similar stage with mine too!
Cheers Andy, yours is looking mighty fine :thumb2:

Thanks Mike,It’s only tacked on so I may change it to the open one once the painting is finished but to be honest hardly any of the cockpit can be seen even with it open :confounded:

Geoff.

Very nice work so far Geoff, looking very nice, even with the fit issues it gave you.

Nice updates Geoff. Aircraft looks great.
Cheers Lee, appreciated :thumb2:

Nice work Geoff, look forward to seeing the colour going on
Thanks Mick, I’ve already started painting it so it shouldn’t be too long until the next update ;)

Thank you Ian, yep I managed to bash it into submission in the end :tears-of-joy:
