Thank Ian for running the GB, I’ve enjoyed taking part 👏

My build is now finished, it represents an aircraft of No.68 Squadron RAF flown by W/Cdr Max Aitken from RAF High Ercall, Shropshire during April 1941.

Max Aitken was the son of Lord Beaverbrook, who if you weren’t aware was the owner of The Daily Express and became Churchills Minister of Aircraft Production during the early part of WW2.

Max survived the war as a fighter ace with 6.5 kills and ended the war as the wing leader of the Banff strike wing (Coastal Command).

Anyway the kit itself went together well, I was a bit dubious about the multi part cockpit but it went together reasonably well with a bit of care, most of the joins thankfully being on areas that were later painted.

I used dot filter technique with oils to weather it just to add some variation to the black (dark grey 😊) surface which looks good but doesn’t show up too well in the photos.

So after all the waffle here she is 😀

Too work geoff , it looks very purposeful all in black , excellent build , cheers tony

That looks great Geoff. I can see the variation in paint work in some pictures, so well worth the effort. Great history too. Spot on.

A result to be proud of. Very nice model of a rarely seen aircraft. I didn't realise that Max Aitkin of Daily Express fame had such an illustrious past.

Thanks Jim, yes I’m pleased with how it’s turned out. I was surprised about Max Aitken too, quite a distinguished career all round 🙂

Great work Geoff, that's turned out very nicely

Cheers Mick 👍
