Hi folks. This is why I've been a bit quiet lately.

I started this last year for the Phantom SIG, but I don't think I joined it officially if you see what I mean.

Despite being by Tamiya, this kit does have it's problems. The biggest I've found so far are the intakes.

Some HUGE gaps and steps which are way beyond my ability to fix. I think you can get replacement intakes but they're quite expensive so I chose another solution.

I forgot to take pictures of the cockpit, but I devised a high-tech cover to protect it until I can get the canopy fixed on.

The next problem I had was with the wing roots. It may have been my fault, but I ended up with some gaps. Easily fixed and filled using the Flex-i-file touch and flow and some Magic Putty.

That's it for now.

Nice one Dave! A 1/32 Tamiya Phantom must have cost a pretty penny! ;)

Love your high tech canopy cover! Who says all those years watching Blue Peter were a waste!

Great choice Dave and a cracking start!. The weapons look excellent and i'm loving the PBRCC. (Patented Bog Roll Canopy Cover) The intakes are surprisingly (for Tamiya anyway) poor , but the FOD covers will fix that perfectly , its going to be a huge beast when its done , looking forward to the next instalment , cheers tony

Looking good Dave, love a Phantom.............

Some very nice work there Dave like Colin I love a Phantom also looking forward to the next update

I like looking at these builds in progress. Inspires me to make each model better than the previous. Good way of finding out how to overcome problems that may arise. :)

I finally got the outer wing sections sorted. There were big steps on both upper and lower wing surfaces (probably down to me) which needed some sanding and filling. Did the decals on the AIM9s and now I've taken off my temporary canopy cover so I can fix the proper one. I'm really pleased with how the cockpit turned out although there are still a couple of bits still to add.
