Just wondering if there is a way that we could add some kind of 'badge' / tag to reflect the group builds we participate in, onto the bottom of our profiles.. the thought behind this is that it would be seen by other members and may influence more members to join in and become more active on the site.

eg.. the members taking part in the current 'spitfire' group build, upon finishing and posting final pics, get something like this .... 'Spitfire Group Build 2022'..... and possibly a link to the finished group build photos added to their profile..

It's just a thought (whilst I'm currently out my tree on pain killers) and feel free to shoot it down if it's not an easy thing to do,

Hi Chris

You can in a round about way...... Have a look at posts by the mod. Alan aka AlanG.

He lists his previous/in progress builds that then links to them.....the principle is exactly the same for a link to a GB thread etc., you just need to change the wording to reflect what you want to link to.

I'm at work so won't have a chance to look at how it works until this evening but I'm assuming it has to be somewhere in your signature profile based on how Alan does it.

HTH.

I've added a little badge that users can turn on and off themselves, but I don't think it's working right, I will continue to look at it

Not a bad idea Chris.

I can see you have taken part in the Spitfire GB 2022 Boss... Only cant find your build...lol :tongue-out2: :tears-of-joy: :tongue-out: :smiling5:

I think that it would be better as a simple link in the signatures though John. After five or six GB's the user info is going to get rather long....
Still we need a think over that...

make sure you don't mix up your test and your tickles.....

You are testing adding group build labels aren’t you LOL……

i used to be on two other forums that did similar and always thought it a great idea.....cant for the life of me remember the names of them though..............one used to do a little 'medal'.....deferent design for each GB............the other used to do a ribbon /banner with the name of the gb...again different design for each GB

problem is you would need to limit the number you are allowed to have cos theres always someone who enters lots of gb's and after a year or two every post they make is long and colourful cos of all the ribbons

While you’re out testing things, you could also add a forum that’s invisible to everyone except a few select user groups ;)

It worries me that it might get a bit competitive with people trying to outdo each other in the number of GBs. If so that would be a great shame, competitiveness is something this forum is thankfully free of.

I've tested this and it almost works, it works fine on Mr Test but not me.

If we did use it rather than people having loads of badges, they would only show during the build, then they would be removed, so someone would only have a maximum based on current builds.
