Just had the first visit of the year by the Ice-Cream Van ( Mr Whippy ) - he uses our car park as a temporary pitch! I'm not sure of the reason for his chimes being " The good, the bad & the ugly" - maybe he wants to put a bit more thought into that!

Me too!. Had a lovely Mr Whippy with twin flake and lashings of sticky raspberry sauce :smiling5: :thumb2: Our van had the A Team theme tune:smiling5::smiling5:

Haven’t heard one of those in years…….last time I heard one I think it was using the “magic roundabout “ theme tune……

Not many ice cream vans over here but there is a 'local' ice cream makers that has just opened for the season. We take a drive out and enjoy very nice ecological icecream

Our local Mr whippy wagon also plays spaghetti Weston tune. New Mr whippy tech? Fun but loud!

Did you know that

Ice cream vans can play their chimes for a maximum of 12 seconds and only when they're stationary, according to a government code of practice

Is that why they play the pied piper tunes really fast and so distorted as to be out of tune?

I shall keep a note , sure he drives around with it blairing out . I shall strike !

Believe it or not there’s one that drives all the way out here to the country and his van is rusted and dirty I wouldn’t dare buy off that thing. His chime is “The more we get together together the more we get together the Happier we’ll be” I can’t stand it. Also he has a bad exhaust leak and the van is loud. Hooray for Summer.

Well livin now out in the sticks we dont see one but back when i was about 20 an livin at my parants house in a cul-de -sac i use to curse this van comin round during the day as i had just got off to sleep an wakeing me up after doing a 12 hr night shift wellding in crane Fruehauf with the MR SOFTEY chimes Aaaaaaaggggghhhhhhhhhh

always know when one is about to pull into our cul de sac..............one of my cats hates it.........can see her hackles rise and she starts growling :smiling:

The nearest we have to an Ice cream van in DK is a van that has a freezer box and a door at the back. Drives around ringing a bell like a demented fire engine. I think they employ ex bus drivers. They come, ringing the bell. stop ring the bell and if you are not out by the van in ten seconds his off again.
NO SOFT ICE! just lollies and the like. Oh and Ice cream cakes....
