Having a bit of a problem

Thread owner
Well, these are the signs of Free Medical...phone calls saves money. I'm surprised he didn't say take two aspirins and call me in the morning or the modern equivalent of two paracetamols.
How do they do diagnostics check through the phone...what if the patient isn't able to explain or express himself?...Strange.

Hope you resolve your issue Dave.

Cheers,
Richard
Richard,
I was able to supply him with my blood pressure averages over the past week, and my blood sugar level readings. They seem to have a set form of questions that are based on my medical records, which they obviously have immediate access to. In some respects it's no different to a face-to-face meeting - same questions - bp etc. I don't know how it works if you can't express yourself - that's not a problem I've ever had!
Dave

I’ve found phone triage with my local GP practice to be similar to face to face appointments as well Dave. After all, diagnosing illness in most cases boils down to asking the right questions and making sure you have had clear answers. On the one occasion the GP needed to clarify something by seeing it I was called in for a face to face appointment an hour or two later on the same afternoon. Personally I think it’s an effective way to operate on the whole.

WELL Tim i cant use the phone due to deafness so i really need to see the doc as jen does all my phone calls but to talk to doc through jen would be a bit tiresome

It doesn't help that today has been the hottest so far this year - 30C, and not a breath of wind, one of the few days that I wish I had aircon. At least the forecast for the weekend is ten degrees lower!
Dave

Hope you get it sorted out soon dave , must be awful . Take care , cheers tony

I guess it beats waiting for ages at the reception even on appointment. I thought Chinese Sinseh's were weird when all they had to do was take your pulse and just look at you without asking a single question and the diagnostic was done...he writes a prescription, gives you advise and you collect your herbs...cured. The funny thing is the Chinese always believed it was a waste of money to see a Western GP 'cos you had to tell him everything...might as well diagnose yourself and get the prescription from the pharmacy. :tears-of-joy:

Cheers,
Richard

Ya...I see all the preserved snake and mice in jars and just pray the herbalist doesn't pick any but the dried herbs in the drawers. The worst I've taken is black bees and dried frog. They all look and tastes the same after boiling and drinking the broth. The bitter the better it seems.
:tears-of-joy:...I think psychologically I get well faster before the next dose of the black potion.

Cheers,
Richard

Hope you get to feeling better Dave. Seen my Doctor last week and She’s not Happy with my BP yet looks like I’ll be avoiding the Salt shaker and sweets for awhile. I had Blood work done all was good there.

Just a minor update............had my bloods taken, so waiting on the results, and any consequent actions. Still not had any benchtime, I've tried a few times, but can't raise any interest. Hot weather hasn't agreed with me for many years, so I'm not enjoying the summer at all! Still having bouts of falling asleep during the day & not sleeping at night!
Dave

I hope it`s all good for you soon Dave:thumb2:
I`ve NEVER enjoyed the heat:tired:.... am also a Diabetic .... but only diagnosed about 3 years ago now,not sure i agreed at the time:angry:....
...Then i passed out for no reason......,Cracked my skull, fractured my eye socket and cheek bone in 7 places...
... I could put the pics up... but they`d be X rated!!:fearful:
... Turned out that i have "Sleep Apnea".... Now THAT is a proper diagnosis ... got the kit from the NHS,have to sleep with the mask every night...
.....but guess what? ..... I actually SLEEP PROPERLY now....
It`s just my opinion obviously,,,, but worth a thought!!

Hello to a fellow apnoeac……..been wearing the kit for five or six years. It is amazing how much better you feel when you first get that mask. Never had an accident like that, but did have to have a cut and shut done on both my eyelids because they drooped so much I was seeing the world through an eyelash curtain. It was that surgeon that identified than I probably had apnoea.
Do you get the drowning dreams? I sometimes wake up after thrashing about trying to get to the surface on a bad night to find I’ve rubbed all the skin off my elbows and left blood all over the bedclothes….her indoors goes mental LOL.

Hi Tim,
Not done the drowning dreams.. just falling into water, but wake up before I hit the surface...
... I also have a habit of dreaming very vividly,....and if I feel it's getting a bit "unpleasant",even though it's within that dream I can recognise that fact and think,"This is nasty, but it's just a dream, not really happening... I'll wake up now"...
...and I do!!.. not sure how or why, but I can assure you that I do!!

I almost never remember dreams, just the “drowning” ones for some reason. Had some interesting events prior to being diagnosed though. Falling asleep during a conversation was raised to almost an art form. One warm stuffy summers day I actually fell asleep during a job interview. I wouldn’t have minded if I was the interviewee, but I was the lead interviewer….…..mind you, the guy was really, really, dull :tongue-out3:

Yowtch - doesn't seem like apnea ( thank heavens ) I don't remember dreams ( unless I have a fever! ), but that's second guessing - I'll wait until my results come through!
Being a diabetic of long standing - I worked out a year or so ago, I had given myself over 14,000 injections, and even now, after such a long time, I still manage to have hypos. Not very often, and always because I've done something stupid ( 'not that hungry' - ' I'll skip lunch ' ).............
Dave

Wow Dave, it appears 2022 it not your year Sir...If it wasn't for bad luck, you wouldn't have any luck at all. I only hope you can get to the root of the prob and be on the way back to your old self quickly. Please take care and hope you can get back to the bench soon.........

Prost und Gute Besserung
Allen

Sorry to read about your prpblems dave, take care and hope you will be on the mend and back at the bench soon.
