Hi All

l have been absent for a while although I have made the odd comment on peoples builds.

Back on the 14th of June I had a near fatal heart attack. I arrested at a dance workshop(Lindy Hop) and had the great fortune that several of my friends knew how to preform CPR. I had a down time of 20 minutes and when the ambulances arrived I needed to be defibrillated three times to get my heart back into rhythm. The next week was spent in hospital initially in an induced comma then stents were inserted into an artery on the left side of the heart. I have made progress over the last 2 months attending coronary rehab to help build up my strength and I think I'm getting there.

When things like this happens you realise how fragile life is.

I thought I was fit and healthy, I'm not over weight, I take plenty of exercise and have been a vegetarian for the last 30 years. But the odds were stacked against me despite having a healthy lifestyle. I had a raised cholesterol of 6.9 and my father died at the age of 45 from a fatal heart attack. I'm now on statins amongst other medications which I found out today has reduced my cholesterol to 3.5 so things are looking up.

Hopefully in the near future I will get back into the modelling( I have still got 2 on the go at the moment).

Hope everything continues to go well with your recovery.

From a close friend and a colleague who have both had life threatening events and survived, one with cancer and the other a heart attack, it really makes you reconsider what is important to you in your life.

That's some story!

It sounds like things are going okay now, I hope this continues. You certainly have my best wishes for a good recovery.

Cheers

Steve

Good grief Vaughan, you certainly went through some trauma. It's good to read you're getting sorted.

Take care,

Glad to hear your on the mend , you think your doing every you can to be healthy but it can still hit you , if heart problems run in the family their is not much you can do apart from a healthy life style which you have and above all regular check ups .

good luck on your recovery

Know the feeling Vaughan, had two stents put in a few years back, was walking around for days with what I thought was heart burn, turns out I was slowly dying and didn't know it, all's well now but every time I do get a bit of heart burn I'm in near panic:eek: so I cut out the hot sauce and cut down on the garlic, hot peppers and the like but as far as being a vegetarian give me a heart attack any day:DView attachment 117806

.......All the best wishes for a speedy recovery and in no time it will be like it never happened, don't for get it was only a an arterial blockage and not an actual "heart" problem so you will be just fine;) now go have a burger and a beer and get back to modeling...........Jim:)View attachment 230829
