Are you wrapping the piece in plastic when the stripper is on?

Yes I have been wrapping the model in plastic and putting the paint stripper on, I tried to do it in cling film, but it was difficult to keep it in place due to my arthritis (as Im 70 this year) . I found it easier to use sanitary towel plastic wrappings sheets, because they are quit long and wide it was them easy to use some masking tape to keep it in place. Then putting the model into an air type plastic bag and putting the sealed model in a warm place.

The wife asked if I could clean the bathroom and bleach the waste strainer in the sink, I got some cotton eye pads to place on top of the strainer and put some bleach on the pads and left for several hours. During that time I had a light bulb idea Why not put some bleach on to some cotton buds and put them into a recess that was heavily painted to see if I could clean the recess out using this method. See image.. to see what I mean. Will post results sometime tomorrow.

So what you going to do with your fire engine!?

The funny thing is, I think mine is mettalic red. I'll have to go on a hunt.

I just use paint stripper from any DIY shop. Some wire wool dipped in stripper will help remove any stubborn paint. I wouldn't worry too much about any paint still left in the recesses of the model. You may do more damage to the casting trying to remove it and provided it isn't blistered by the paint stripper it really wont effect the finish of the model once its primed and painted.

This project is turning into a long marathon, rather than a sprint. The initial plan was to clean the model, fill the holes on top of the cab.
Then get it resprayed, but life through a few curve balls, I needed to find some blue lamps, going to a friends house silly mistake on my side he showed me his latest buy from ebay a fire engine with led lights that flashed, I was hooked... Spent a few weeks on the web looking for some led lights and tutorials on how to fit them and how to get them to work. Contacted a number of places for led blue lights and the power supplies, found a few who I thought had what I wanted sent a few emails the professionals what i needed told to look through the long listings ended up not placing an order... Lol didn't no what I was ordering... Found someone on ebay again who was selling led light, sent them a simple email I wanted to put led lights on a fire engine what do I need. His reply was helpful, sent links to parts of his site, he also said I make up the lights to go inside no soldering no stress finally ordered 1 set to see it will work. Crossed fingers. In between searching for domes for the fire engine (which I found in a lego catalogue).
