So,
having finally completed my Takom King Tiger...(I'll get some pics done this weekend), I had a dig around in the stash to find something a bit more modern,

I'm currently at the paint stage of this build, base coats are on, and the detail painting has commenced.. (there's still more paintwork to sort out , but I'm happy with the colours so far.)

Anyhoo..
pics.

Nice build!
No shortage of detail on that.

Looking really fine Chris. As someone who isn’t up to speed with modern stuff though, and who is sure it isn’t what it sounds like, what is the Trophy protection system?

Chris,
Great work on the model, it is such a pity the kit producer ran away from actually adding real non slip, I have noticed the same with all manufacturers - but this does not take away the work you have put into the model - well done.
Mike.

Hi Chris
That is very nice indeed. Great paint job which will be a perfect base for the next stages.

An afternoon spent messing around with the Merkava,
brown pin wash, and a spot of dry brushing for highlights....
I've also fitted the Ball and Chain turret armour.... talk about an absolute ball ache....lol

Great job, Chris. I love your shading and weathering: they give depth and enhance the many detail of that kit.

A real beauty. My 1/87 Merk does not have them:smiling:. Nor will it ever.

Looking good :thumb2: you need to return them camouflage trousers though, there not working lol

I'm thinking that a Dio for this could possibly to be based around a road in Israel, with a couple of concrete barriers alongside the tank whilst the crew relax and grab a drink of water, maybe even some Israeli soldiers walking alongside it..

However I've no idea what would be the best to use for an asphalt road, I've seen a dio base that would be perfect but it would seem that it's unavailable in the UK without paying an extortionate amount of postage... booooo

eg: https://www.scalemates.com/kits/phoenix-models-limited-hq35010-modern-highway-part-a--322781

so it's back to scratching my head for a couple of days until something hits me..

Wet/dry sandpaper (the black stuff) works well for smallish areas. I sometimes use window screen over skewers & matchsticks or popcycle sticks for crown & screed edge then taping compound & finish w/black shoe polish & weather w/cigarette ash.
