Scale Model Shop

How big is too big and how expensive is too expensive?

Karl , Pete Waterman used to be a record producer, now has interests in model railways, along with Rod Stewart and Jools Holland . They all have superb model railway layouts . When some idiots destroyed a model layout at a venue in Stamford ,Rod Stewart was one of many who contributed to the club .
Waterman actually owned a real railway company, modern and heritage maintenance companies and at least six preserved (what are now known as “heritage”) engines. His model railway is called leamington spa. Here you go…..

It's a very subjective question and the answer will vary for us all. All I can say is if you have the money, really want it, and think it justifies the expense, go for it. I've rarely regretted spending money, but have regretted not, if that majes sense. To be honest it is an eye watering price. I've literally bought real cars for less (pieces of **** mind you).
As for buying models, fortunately I've not had to purchase many, inheriting a large stash when my dad passed. I think the most I've spent so far is about £20. That said I've spent hundreds on paint, tools and so on. Most recently just under £200 on an airbrush. As they say - you can't take it with you!
If you do splash out for it, I'll certainly take a seat to watch the build ;)

When I retired I treated myself to a £400 model as a retirement gift.
My money, my choice.
It wasn't huge but incredibly well made.

Now £1,500 is, in my view, too much.

But the real put off is its size.

Where would you put that unless you had something prepared?

Horses for courses though and I certainly wouldn't criticise anyone that bought one, fair play to them.

Be a while Chris - if ever - as it's a loooong way down on my 'to-do' list!

As for the shakes, I still get 'em but not as often or as bad.

Well it’s not for me. Ignoring the money aspect, I would just get bored.
