Can you imagine a circle of people meeting in a private room, the councellor asks if anyone has anything to say so someone stands up and says ..."My names Dave ... and i can't resist buying model kits"

:) :) :)
That's what I like to see. Mutual support and understanding. :lol

Andrew, you might (or might not) take consolation in the fact that that's exactly how I started! And look where I am today! :lol

Not got any pics handy on this machines, got about 20-30 in the stash. Looking through this thread I can see a lot of what I have waiting to do.

I have had to slow down a lot since the wife started to make comments when more boxes started to arrive. If I had the room then I am certain that it would be double the size hehe.

I think that I am on the mend though, passing Modelzone in town and managed to resist the £15 1/48 Academy f-15 :D

I think this stash problems like an airborn virus, but cyber based !!!

I've just noticed hobbycraft have a sale on some 1/72 ww1 aircraft ... they're about 2 quid a shot ..... i'm thinking of getting one of each .... heeeellllllpppp :)

Actually my other hobbies of sea angling and motorbiking are more expensive than model making lol. So she doesn't mind me spending money on this

Genius idea! Take up an expensive hobby so model making becomes more acceptable to SWMBO!

Yes, in comparison to my Faberge Egg shooting hobby and my Ferrari stock car racing - model making is relatively cheap.

Cheers

P

sea angling and fly fishing isn't cheap thats for sure, besides you can't live in Scotland and NOT fish !!!

As far as partners having any influence on this hobby .... i TELL mine whats happening ....... then when she decides it's OK i get on with it :) :)

i tried that colin, it took me two hours to remove the spitfire from my a**e, on a serious note, i dont drink or really go out much so she is happy that i have a hobby that keeps me at home.and i order off e-bay when she is not looking lol

That's not quite right. Only one of them is the Revell Snowberry. The other is the Revell USS Fletcher in 1/144.

I'm relatively new to modelling so at the moment it stands at this:

1 x ertl 1968 ford shelby gt-500 1/25

1 x Tamiya 1966 Volkswagen Beetle 1300 1/25

1 x Tamiya Yamaha RZF-R1 Taira Racing 1/25

1 x Revell Shelby GT 500 1/25

So I am not the only one. I have a serious Carp fishing addiction (albeit put on hold for a year or two) and also have an unhealthy camera habit as well. Just bought a new one the other day....Canon D60. So I guess modelling is a "cheaper" hobby than those.

So can we take it that you have a stash of cameras instead of kits then? tee hee!

Gern

60 something kits. 9 carp rods, 4 fly rods, 8 coarse rods, 2 beach and 2 boat rods. Only five cameras though...... :-/

By the way if anyone wants a Canon EOS 300D with standard lens, two battery and a charger, PM me. :-)

Ian M

I can't stop buying kits either. I had 25 kits when I restarted now it stands at 27. With two made. How does that happen? :noidea:

I blame eBay for this addiction spreading. Theres 5 stages to it...

1) Sat down nice and cosy with the laptop watching some evening TV

2) "Oh, I'll have a quick look on eBay - just a browse"

3) "How much?!? I'll keep my eye on that one!"

4) 10 minutes later.... Item watched, bidded on, won, paid for

5) Repeat a few days later

Curtis, I just read your 5 steps. I already had another tab open on an ebay-like site, on a page of model aircraft kits!
