Being a huge Dads Army fan, I was very sad to read that Pike or Ian Lavender has passed.

In my humble opinion one of the magnificent cast of the Greatest sitcom ever. Ian was the last living main cast member.

Thanks Ian for all the laughs

Don't tell him Pike, lol

Sad news indeed.

In the late '90s/early '00s I ran a Dad's Army website for over 11 years (called Whispers From Walmington) and met him a few times. On one occasion, I went to an RLSB "Evening with Ian Lavender" event in Sevenoaks where he signed some Dad's Army books and a Dad's Army audio tape for me to raffle on my website to raise money for The Royal London Society for the Blind, as well as making a donation:

Such a lovely man.

Very sad. A truly great comedy from the days when comedy was genuinely funny.

Very sad indeed, I think he was the last of the originals. RIP Ian and Thank you!
My favourite was Private Walker but he sadly died young.

He lived in Saffron Walden for a time.My father was working for removal company and moved him.Father said he was nice chap and never tired of peoples affection of Dads army.
Reunited with his old pals.
RIP Ian.

Sad news indeed. The last of the magnificent seven that comprised the platoon.

PS, when St Peter asks your name…..don’t tell him Pike……because he’ll already know it!

Just remembered I once met the wonderful Mrs Fox, Pamela Cundell.

She walked out of a shop in front of us in Cardiff in the early ,90's. She was delightful to meet very gracious. Managed to get her autograph and thanked her for being part of the lovely show. Could see why lance corporal Jones fancied her rotten lol.

Very sad indeed. Last evening BBC4 even showed the submarine crew episode!!
‘Don’t tell him your name Pike’
Dad’s Army is the only programme my wife has ever bought me as a complete set. (Mind you - nothing to play them on now!!)

I loved Dads Army and it’s sad that the last cast member has died. The programmes will live on however as classic great comedy.

What sad news.
I used to love the show. British humor to the core.

Don't tell him you name Pike.
Rest in peace sir.

Awwww, such a shame, a classic of British comedy from a bye gone age
