Well after the final battle of the flaps and the wing fitting I got the nav lights and the bang-seat pull cords on and can call this done.

As per norm a few comments on the kit and instructions.

A well moulded kit with more parts than you can shake a stick at. Not many signs of flash and mould join lines. On reflection, I think any one else building this can save the expense of the resin cockpit. A good look at the kits parts and the detail is actually very good and considering how much can be seen when all is buttoned up.... A pair of seats would have done the job.

The Air break box is a good investment but again only really seen if you have it in flight.

PE If you are having the wings extended and the flaps down is a good investment otherwise save the money for something else.

The kit builds well and the fit is really rather good. Places to watch out for? The only things I fell over was be careful when you fit the booms- I found out the hard way that they can move and that its just a little to easy to place them wrong.

The instructions are OK but there could be a few more call outs for painting along the way.

Nuff waffle pictures.

And to wrap up a picture of the Vixen together with the Sea Harrier and the Brick. So if you thought the Brick was a big bird.....

Hope you like and as always comments welcome

Nice nifty piece of work Ian.

Jolly nice piece of photography. Some of the photos give a very serious sinister look.

Fantastic 5 star build Ian! A very comprehensive and useful build log too , invaluable for anyone with this one in the stash. The finish is just lovely but im puzzled as to the flower power logos under the tail , was this bird flown by a reformed hippy!!? top work mate , cheers tony

I read that the flowers under the tail where a bit of a statement of that aircrafts crew on hearing that the Vixens where to be decommissioned. A close look at the pilot and navigator name plaque will reveal that they to have a flower in front of their name. Another more known Vixen with a protest is the one which has "FOR SALE" painted right across its back... Couldn't fine the decals, otherwise I would of done that one.

Thanks for the stars.

Excellent build Ian,that head on shot sure is menacing. Great detail and the wash really makes a big difference. Nice addition to the shelf you should be well pleased with the results.Very nicely done Sir!!!

A 5 Star beauty Ian, a Sea Venom would go nicely on that shelf. Cheers Derek

Thanks Ian. I think that you could do just as good a job of it, if not better.

Nice one Ian, a cracking vampire mate.

You've got a nice little fleet coming together there.

5 well earned stars .

Tony.

Is this the Xtrakit one? Have I missed the manufacturer in the post?

Looking great no matter what! Lovely aircraft and you've done it justice!

Thanks Chaps. Much appreciated.

Its the Airfix one Stuart. Never tried an Xtrakit, are they any good?

Nicely done Ian. I have definitely dropped out of building aircraft, a decision I made a long time ago. I simply could not build them like this, what a collection!!!
