life is not straight forward. Ups & downs. Things have happened you would rather not happen.

However that is life to be taken as it is. To enjoy the bits which are good & which are in the majority.

Pauline & I sit eating breakfast watching the sparrows descend on the weird food she puts out on the balcony.

The people serving in the shop below our flats are just very nice & friendly it is a joy to shop there.

Monday we walked along to the adjacent mariner. We had chats with a number of passers by as we sat enjoying the sun & the view.

Eldest son taking us shopping Thursday (no car now to old). 2 daughters taking us out for lunch on Friday.

We all moan but life is there to be enjoyed. Beginning of July & Pauline & I will have been married 60 years.
We have come through it with flying colours. Yes we have a good moan at each other every now & then but fogotten.

So enjoy life.

Laurie

So this is my life the whole crew. Love every one of them. I just cannot believe I have been so lucky.

Hi Laurie, and I must say you are one lucky SOB.......what a wonderful looking group of humanity that you have gathered about you and Pauline. I marvel at the fact that there is such a homogeneous blend of people and that everyone is clearly at the top of their form! Thank you for posting this wonderful experience with the Forum crowd you hang out with. I feel "Honored" to be included in the group that you are sharing your most personal experiences with. Laurie...you Sir.........are one fine human being. :thumb2:

I must say Laurie, as far as life and happiness go, you’ve cracked it :thumb2:
Well done!

Laurie

Congratulations on reaching such a milestone and on such a fine looking family.

ATB.

Thanks all very nice of you.

I should have mentioned our island, our adopted place 59 years ago. Only came for one year as a change.

We have a huge selection of different nationalities. 10% are from Portugal & Madeira. Asian African Australian. Italian Spanish German. West Indian & even a few from the US.

Huge mix & all mix well. Even the English & Scots. Jersey people are the friendliest that I have ever met.

Only problem we have had is when Portugal Play England. Best to stay in doors. Noise wow.(no fights). Next day friends again. Well they went to school here.

One quirk. All round abouts & all major junctions it is filter in turn. Remarkable all motorists conform (except one or two visitors to the Island who cannot read signs).

I've said it before Laurie but I've thoroughly enjoyed my two visits to your little island. A great little place.

Fine family Laurie and it all starts from the top pair and spreads out.
Also you're one lucky fella to enjoy the work put in through the years.

Cheers,
Richard

Wow embarrassed. Hope that others here would join in with their life & families. Please :smiling2:

Little extra. Pauline & I chatting a little while ago. She said I would not have minded some more kids.
Stunned. Bit late at 82 & 83.

Hi Laurie
Wonderful to hear of such a great family and of such a long, happy marriage. So good that you are thankful of your good life.
My wife and I also consider ourselves very lucky. We have two children, both married, and one granddaughter who we dote on. We will have been married 50 years next year so a bit behind you.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. A boost in a world where sometimes all seems doom and gloom.
Jim

Only 37 years 'hitched' for us, two boys (one in a steady relationship - hopefully getting married this year), one grandson (5 years old, as lively and inquisitive as a basket of kittens!)

You can't beat family, (well you can with a big stick)

Joking aside it's nice to see family harmony, you can never take something like this for granted.

Chuffed for you Laurie

A beautiful crew Laurie. Quite an eclectic mix. Must be some great stories there. Mary & I are not far behind at 55yrs together through 16 moves.

Thanks for branding me beautiful Paul :smiling6:

16 moves cannot match that. To busy creating children. Family house we built stayed there over 30 years.
Eldest son virtually in tears when we downsized.

Just add to the collection over the years. 3 Labradors a German Shepherd (what a little beauty). Pauline called out one day by the window cleaner. The GSD would not let his mate down the ladder. The GSD was playing as spiderman which he got from the kids games.

5 cats. 16 mice when we moved into new house.

2 interloper rats living in garden. Jenny Wren & 5 chicks. Amazing little bird. Watched her herding her chicks up the ivy on a tall granite wall in the garden. An incredible performance. A family of Magpies two of them young having a vocal fight with two of our cats.

Good memories.

Laurie

Laurie you have a wonderful family and as someone has already mentioned that comes from the top.
Ive only known you for a short while but in that time feel like I have known you for years. You have been a great friend and inspiration. You have also been a great help to me in what is a very difficult time for me for which I thank you very much.
Take care all of you.

Hi Laurie

Congratulations on your forthcoming 60th wedding anniversary.

As you say, Jersey is a nice place, situated off the coast of Guernsey!! :smiling4:

Friends Romans & country men. Peter thank you for the first sentence :tongue-out: very nice indeed.

Jersey is in a nice niche. Noted that temperature in Jersey is 19.5 at this time. ;):tongue-out::smiling:

Regrettably, Peter, 16 degrees at the moment in the northerly Isle :rolling:

Jersey calm I understand it is gale force up there in mid channel :smiling2:

Laurie

Hi laurie
