Is there any other way to kill ‘em Alan? LOL....
I never get things from china anyway. Always to afraid of getting hammered by customs (and the Post Office).
Don't get me wrong John. I've seen the kits (mostly 1/32 Hasegawa Fw190A8s) for sale at roughly £25 in both China and Japan. Rarely, if ever, find them here. But i am totally skint so getting 'additional' HMRC and PO charges just isn't an option.
From the WHO website...............https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/advice-for-public/myth-busters
"Is it safe to receive a letter or a package from China?"
"Yes, it is safe. People receiving packages from China are not at risk of contracting the new coronavirus. From previous analysis, we know coronaviruses do not survive long on objects, such as letters or packages."
Still would wash my hands, though..................

I use that stuff as footdip. Good stuff.I'm lucky as i have access to Virkon-S. Kills everything....dead! lol
I read that as “food dip” at first and wondered if you were maybe taking things too farI use that stuff as footdip. Good stuff.
I think I must be lucky then, if I need stuff from the States I get it sent to relatives over there and they send it gift as it is family after all, I do the same for Australia and Germany, that's what comes from a well mixed family. China though I try to avoid the last parcel I had from there was blown up by a robot, thought it looked suspicious, it was paint cannisters, the robot now looks psychedelic, red, blue, yellow........Both Chinese and Japanese packages have been both speedy and arrived unadulterated by the PO or tax man, so far, touch wood.
The USA is so different, my last 3 packages have all been stopped and charged!
I stopped shopping in the USA due to ridiculous postage charges, but recently I could only get the Barracuda resin upgrades I needed direct, and even though they were reasonable with postage and labelled as toys, I still got billed £13.
The USA is off limits now, so much for the "special relationship"!
Its almost seems that we are being discouraged at both ends from shopping in the USA?

Quite agree with you Steve, I've had one charge from the Robbery Dept of the Royal Mail, where they wanted to charge for delivery after I'd had paid the Mafia from the Customs. Both Chinese and Japanese packages have been both speedy and arrived unadulterated by the PO or tax man, so far, touch wood.

Hi Lee , think your quite right to do this.Good point John as some of you know I drive a truck and I work in the sea container business. Since the out break when I deliver a container that’s has came from China I am very cautious. I use to wear leather gloves now I wear thick insulated ones and try not to handle any boxes that might fall out. I also refuse to sweep out a empty container from a customer that’s been from China and I am constantly washing my hand maybe I’m over reacting but I’m not taking a chance
Me too made local as well!!I drank lots of Corona as a child, never did me any harm(I think).Used to get 5p for the empty bottle.
I don't know what all the fuss is about.
ps.Stay away from Chris boatman :smiling3:.
Great idea Tim, thank you, I have some neat alcohol that I mix down with water for normal use, but will make some up when gotta strength when the parcel arrives .

Just make sure when it turns up it does not come through your front window with a brick attached, and that it is wearing a face mask - if it has a face mask, dark glasses with a petrol bomb in its hand you are safe, it is a Hong Kong protester...Quite agree with you Steve, I've had one charge from the Robbery Dept of the Royal Mail, where they wanted to charge for delivery after I'd had paid the Mafia from the Customs.
In the end I complained to Amazon as the seller hadn't said it was coming from the states, the seller agreed and on sight of my card from the PO they refunded me .
The next time I pre paid the duty at purchase, after that it was plain sailing and the cutter was still cheaper than here in the UK, where there was no stock .
Hi Lee , think your quite right to do this.
Thanks every one who commented.
Seeing the news reports that say China has not handled this honestly just makes people more concerned.
I if and when the parcel arrives will do as Dave and Tim suggest, and not in the house either.
John .
Whose customs ?, UK or did they stop it leaving China ?I've had a refund out of the blue from a Chinese seller today for an eBay purchase that hasn't arrived yet.
They reckon their parcel was turned back from customs. May not be related (or even true I suppose) but it made me wonder.
YEA that's what ive been thinkin colinI've had a look at my small stash, I reckon I can weather the storm. Assuming Corona doesn't get me of course.
