Basically my laptop has died big style. So I need the best one you can get for £300.

It has to be a windows 10 version as we have to be able to use office 365 (full version) as chromebooks don't.
Also needs to surf net easily with ability to watch YT.

Any advice?

I have an Acer that's nearly 2 year old and came with Win10. Storage was a bit weak but I upgraded the SSD quite easily. You should be able to salvage RAM from your old machine to add to the new one.
Got from Currys/PC World, they seem to give good value machines at that price and depending on where exactly you are you might be able to pick one up today.

Nope. Stayed home and worked like trojan with no laptop for my model fix

I often wonder how much more modelling would be done if we had no internet.......but there were more magazines back then, and we had to physically leave the house to buy modelling stuff, so maybe not that much more......

Just a quick pointer,
be wary of any system that says it runs on windows 10 S,
From what i gathered when my laptop went the way of the dodo, Windows 10S is an app based version of the original windows 10 OS, which will only run programs from the Windows/Microsoft store, it may not cause you any issues, but i prefer to get any programs i use from where i want to, not where Microsoft say i will.. If i wanted that in a laptop i'd have bought a macbook....lol

TBH i only use the laptop for surfing the net, spotify and MS Office. So nothing really taxing.

no worries buddy..

just spotted you've gone for a Lenovo, nice laptop's, that's what i had prior to the new one I've got now.

While its IT time, a silly question

Have a new PC coming, have to load microsoft office 2019 in it. Do i load this first and then the word / powerpoint docs etc from the old PC??

You don't need office to store office files, just to open them, so you can transfer files at anytime.
