Latest Acquisitions (2020)

Nice purchase Dave
There are more features than I will ever understand, let alone use!
Oh that is so true. I have a camera, a phone, a computer and a car - I only use a fraction of the features on any of them!
Jim
The wife has just looked over my shoulder and said "Add my sewing machine, the timer on the cooker and the washing machine"

Decided I wanted to upgrade my camera............. after hovering on ebay for a few days, I got this 'opened, but never used' Fujifilm FinePix SL240 14 Mb View attachment 368573View attachment 368574
Only thing absent was the instruction manual disc - which I was able to download from the Fuji website. There are more features than I will ever understand, let alone use!
It's not the latest model, but, at less than £45 delivered, it's a couple of generations later than my previous camera.
Dave
I have the under water one stacks of features yep no idea either, but takes great photo's in or out of the water fuji xp i have a few great picturesView attachment 368594

A few more arrivals over the last couple of days.......

IMG_2577.jpg
late night eBaying again - reasonable price. Very nice packaging on these Gecko kits and looks to be a very nice and comprehensive kit with etch and separate link tracks

IMG_2578.jpg
and a set of crew figures - again, well packaged (there is another box inside the outer), if somewhat over sized for the contents

IMG_2580.jpg
from the same place as the trucks - good prices on all. The Otter may make it to the animal GB
Not seen these figure sets before - look like they could be useful

then three from Johns shop - I do like these new Airfix boxes, very smart, even if the contents in this case do need work

I have a few 251's now - this C and D/9, the Stuka zu fuss, a Zvezda B/3, a couple of D/1's and Hobbyboss tracks for them all plus some etch. Also got the set of three Panzer Tracts books on them from my sister for crimbo

What a good batch you have, Simon. I got the MiniArt Winter German Soldiers when they first came in...nice poses. The Airfix Honey tank is next in my list since I missed the Academy one when in Sydney 4 years ago...I think it's the same mold and priced less. I'm not too worried about the undercarriage accuracy...most of it will be buried in the sand. :smiling3:

Cheers,
Richard

Hi Richard - I think they have just removed Academy from the sprues and added their own decals and instructions. I have read that the interior is also incorrect so not a lot going for it really without a re-work

Nice box though :smiling3:

It appears that Simon is expecting this winter to get worse and a lot colder too. Therefore, he has invested in more insulation to keep him warm until at least April. Besides, he can also save a bunch of money on his heating costs!!!!!!!

Nice haul and sorry to hear about the Visa card Simon………………….

Hi Simon.
Tiger Model Design do a comprehensive interior for the Honey including the turret.
Jon.

Thanks for the info Jon although if I ever get to the stage of putting an interior in I shall probably knock something together myself

Hi all,

It’s been a mental couple months, but I’ve finally resurfaced from the pit of hospitality during the festive season.

Here’s a few acquisitions I made over the holidays. I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year, and I can’t wait to see all of the builds that this year holds for us all!

My name is Ian and I am a plastic addict. It has been so long since I bought a kit I cant remember!!!
Some nice kits coming up on this thread.
Can I remind you all though that the chit chat is to be kept to a minimum. I know that it is not to bad at the moment but once it starts.......Some one has to pull the handbrake or it will just keep on getting the better of the thread.

This arrived at Race Towers this morning from a seller on Evil bay.

The early production model only a few build. At least the hull is not warped ! Once again incorrect markings on the turret side.

Only problem with this type of insulation is the corners of the boxes tend to dig in tender places - I use the reccomended method of nicking the insulation from the loft....

No it is not wrong - definately says "Ear at McRuskies" .....

From John, at SMS - fast service, as always - consumeables - the blue is for a little project..................DSCF0100.JPG
I've been using artists' masking fluid, but it seems to dry out in the jar very quickly , you have to pick off a thick dry layer at the top before getting to the useable stuff - you only seem to be able to use about 1/2 a jar! So, Wilder Quick Mask Red!
Dave

Have you used that Quick Mask before Dave ? Need to look as my bottle of Vallejo is going down .

Nope this is my first bottle - I looked at other masks, including Maskol, Micro-Mask & Vallejo
I applied this to the dor glazing on the Dingo, about 11/2 hours ago - still a little tacky, but I probably used too much!DSCF0103.JPG
We'll see how well it works in a day or so, when I come to peel it off
Dave
