Latest Acquisitions (2020)

Nos exciting as Andy's great buy above ( Nice one ,mate. ) The postman, not person I might add, kindly brought these to Race Towers late this afternoon

Hopefully the 2 sets might help or or at the worst hinder my figure painting.

I'd seen a Youtube video on figure painting with the guy using these Lifecolor Paints , as I'm not going to be spraying them I thought why not give them a try.

So the order was made with John.

What's in side you may ask.

and

Going to seem strange not have a Vallejo type bottle, so ordered this as well :smiling3:.

Right that's it, comments welcome as how others have got on with these would be nice.

John.
I dont have the sets ,but just a range of colors that can be mixed and match, along with the 136,and one other dark color,
the thing i do like is ,your just not using some type of white, that to me I,always seam to look and just see white added ,witth my eyes,
makes a differences

I was still having endless problems with my cheap compressor so went for the "go big or go home" option.

I've only had a quick play with it but I'm impressed so far! Slightly louder than the AS186 but only runs for a few seconds to top up the small tank (built into the carry handle), so evens itself out. Air delivery is so smooth, I've got no excuses now :smiling5:

Plans are to plumb the tank from the AS186 inline with it, which, as well as increasing storage capacity will act as an expansion chamber, ruling out any possibility of water coming through the lines (not that I have a problem with my current set up).
do like the idea of the twin, did see at the ipmms show last year one of theses,s type,so dose the frame act as a tank as well, ? if so is the volume ,close to that of a tank ?
if so just keep that ,but on the other hand would like to see ,the setup and how to do,;)

John, I've been using Lifecolor sets for WWII german uniforms and Italian uniforms. They are good with brushes, but never tried them with the "hissing thing". I was tempted by the "Flesh colours" set but did not make up my mind, yet. Hope you will enjoy them.

Andy, I took the same decision and bought it some months ago. Didn't use it very much, yet, but I got the same impression: smooth but a little noisier than my previous one (bought in 1986...).

Just had this book delivered, from Historex Agents;

Its a great book, just flicking through it, with colour marks/ colour chips and a complete paint of Young miniatures bust, which by the way you can get as a PDF, but a lot easier to see the steps, and have the book open when using it for advice;

Hi Andy, had a play last night, used 50% water, made as they suggested a milky thickness. Very thin when it went on, but looking this morning I was quite impressed. Hopefully I will post later on the build.

Actually a LifeMiniatures bust, I have it in the stash and the PDF on my hard drive, sold to me by Carl Startin as a good bust for beginners, sad to stay I've not started it.
Tempted to pick up theat book now.

Hi all

So as we have the Battle of Britain GB on at the moment I saw these and after reading some good reviews bought them on spec.

Lots of reference pics of various items - apparently a lot are taken of items in private collections. It does though add some short background stories to go with some of the reference pics though.

For those of like me lacking knowledge in this area a useful addition.

ATB

Andrew

Oh, these showed up too,

Last addition to the stash for a good while, masks and etch in the box.
According to a French pilot who flew all 3 this was better than the P-51 and Spitfire.
The mastless antenna passing through the canopy is going to be an interesting hole to drill.....

Seeing how one of my Hobby Boss Sd. Kfz. 221/222s only came with 3 rubber tires (I hate rubber tires), I ordered a nice set from Royal model that included an etch fret and covered spare tire,

The other thing was added to the cart to get free postage for them..............

Postie just delivered this:

I ordered this on Monday evening, and it was in my hands at !0:00 Wednesday. VERY good service from Kits For Sale Ltd - AND I got a surprise discount for being a repeat customer!
The model is down as pre-owned, but apart from scuffing around the edges, is as new, parts still bagged. Now I can add a real American Limousine to my line-up.

All you need is the Ant Hill Mob to go with that Dave!

something a bit different - found by accident whilst looking for something else on one of my late night meanders around the net

Ammo tin to hold two Flak 38 20mm magazines

Reputed to have been owned by the 311 Flak Battalion during the battle of the bulge - found with a whole load of other stuff in the silt at the bottom of a lake near Bastogne. Presumably whoever was tasked with cleaning up did the equivalent of sweeping the debris under the rug and just chucked it in the lake

Still has a lot of the dark grey paint on the outside. Inside is in red primer. There are traces of a white number painted on the lid. Possibly 4-1

still has the fibrous pads in the lid to stop the magazines rattling about. Extremely well made tin. Top of the can is double skinned with a rubber gasket in the groove and the lid would have originally pulled down into the groove for a watertight seal

Was sold to me with a seized lid, various holes, sheared off locking catch and plenty of muck although vendor has obviously cleaned it up and removed all the large chunks of loose paint and rust

I soaked it with WD40 for a couple of days and that un-seized the lid hinge and the stump of the locking catch

Wiped some of the grime off with 99.9%IPA then gave it a rub over with 3in1 light oil

I have a Dragon 1:6 Flak 38 so this will be a great reference for scratching a can to go with it

Latest purchase arrived this morning from our very own Richard Pearce.

Thanks mate.

All looking nice a cool, ready for more Winter specials later in the year, well not all of them at once.:nerd:

From an early delivery from postie, amid a parcel of paints, I got this
zvezda r-12.jpg
I have had a go at this before, but for some reason made a mess of it. I have the Italeri Zundapp in the stash, but it ain't a patch on this - no less than 158 parts..........................
