Latest Acquisitions (2022)

Love it when I grab an ebay bargain , its like winning the meat raffle ! The Airfix one was £7.44 including postage and the Revell one with Eduard etch was £7.35 including postage so the pair cost less than £15 delivered ! The Revell boxing is the one with the prototype Hagelkorn ( hailstone) glide bomb ( theres an example of one of these at the Cosford museum ) which is the one I’ll be doing , the remaining decal option ,the sand yellow with green spots , will be used on the Airfix kit as I like the scheme. I might do a couple of inbox reviews to compare the two makers different take on the same subject.
Will be interested in the Airfix review in particular Tony. I have a version of that in the stash.

Tony,
getting the bargains on ebay adds to the enjoyment - it's having your cake and eating it too! Doing a direct comparison between the two models sounds like a great idea!

Another ebay bargain . £ 9.50 including delivery . Its a kit ive been looking at getting for a while , and for less than a tenner all in , its got to be a bargain. Its a little known subject but an interesting one nevertheless. The only downside is the kit didnt come with any decals , not so much a problem with the Polish checkerboards but the makers serial and squadron emblems are impossible to reproduce. After a bit of research salvation came in the form of a black and white picture of a couple of soviet pilots ( one of which is Ivan Kozhedub I think ) in front of a couple of captured aircraft , one of which is a Lublin rxiii in romanian markings. I also found a side profile which doesnt show any markings other than the cross of king michael and a yellow band round the fuselage ,so easy to do with some generic decals . 67A788F2-0038-4010-9643-E2E75EDDC1C3.jpeg

Now if it's too big I bet you could use controller for the Tiger !

I was getting some stuff from Amazon, and in order to take advantage of the free posting, I added this

I know the model has accuracy problems ( both the propellers go the wrong way round! ), but it's such an oddball, I couldn't resist it. I'll do an inbox review if anyone's interested.................

Hi Tony
I built the Airfix FW in January and it's a really nice kit. I went to Cosford Museum yesterday and saw the plane in question. Had a great day.

These were so ugly I bought a book about the development of the Arrow....I have given thought to how I could scrape one together from existing 1/87 airplane kits and it seems hopeless. I hope you decide to build this soon Dave....it would be fun to follow along. Rick H.

It’s also really big for a propeller aircraft. About 19 cm long and wide, it says, compare that to, say, a Spitfire that’s more like 13 by 15 cm.
