Nice haul. Sounds like someone needs to do an SBS on the flory stuff. Knowing how to use it and which ones not to buy is useful info……

Thanks Tim and agreed.

I bought them to finish off my Mossie. So I'll do a bit of an SBS for that but that's basically following the Flory video. I'll then add in Al's thoughts too.

Obviously if someone is an expert then please let free to do one.

ATB.

Hmmm,....
"Please feel free to do one"....
..... Unfortunate turn of phrase there Andrew!!! :smiling3: ;)

I have used the Flory dark dirt wash on a couple of things, you can use it through an airbrush to give a dirty finish and if you don't like it or want to change it then just fill the airbrush with water and pressure wash it off.

Andy.

SBS: shake the bottle. Slop the wash on your model. Let it dry then wipe off any excess with a damp piece of kitchen roll. Repeat as necessary. As Andy said, if you don't like the result it'll wash off with plain water.

Good morning all

So some nice arrivals already and so here's what I got....

First up these snippers from my wife and son. I couldn't justify them myself but as it was Christmas I put them on the list for the family to get me! Quite how they managed to hack into my account on John's shop and apply the forum discount I'll never know! ;)

Thanks to @Bobthestug , @outrunner , @Tim Marlow and @Ian M for your thoughts on these.

Next up these Flory Washes from my daughter.

Had heard good things about these but then forgot about them until @KarlW mentioned them in his recent-ish Mustang III build and jogged my memory (so thanks for the inspiration). Also thanks yet again to @AlanG for his input on their use and just as importantly which ones not to waste my money on. Added the polishing sticks to see how they work.

Of course as important as the above are they pale into insignificance compared to these!

All the best.

Andrew
Super Christmas pressies Andrew and I truly hope you and the family had a wonderful Christmas... Your last pressie worries me though...Not the Toblerone, but the checking into hotels under a false name, going into the room, nicking all the chocolates and then leaving through the back door unseen, is worrysome!!! This is kinda criminal Buddy....... Oh well, Enjoy!!!

Love the Flory washes, the best thing being as had been said you can remove it easily if not happy .

Xmas pressie from wife:
IMG_1011.JPG
Scribing and riveting tools, a swivelling head cutter (just because I am as curious as the famous cat) and some accessories for my old hissing stick (the two pots on the right) plus the main course, a new hissing stick.
The Badger 100 was chosen because it shares many parts with my 35 years old Badger 150 which is still good for many uses but not great for very fine lines. Another prudent step towards gravity fed airbrushes.

Real Nice goodies Andrea and hope you had a good Christmas too!!!

My son came over on Sunday and had this pressie for dad in his rucksack. He has a friend who's a music engineer and this is what he recommended for me,

Love it Allen. I’ve had one of those for many years. Cleaned well over a thousand records with it :thumb2:

Ten turns one way, then ten the other and bobs your uncle. Remember to replace the inner sleeves with new ones though, or you are just putting crap back on the clean record.

Once you use up the mixture I’ve got a great home made cleaning recipe for you…until then, pour the used formula back into the bottle through a fine coffee filter to remove all the bits……

I had a very generous Christmas thanks to family and friends. I have enough kits to last me till next Christmas at the rate I have been able to complete builds over the past couple of years,

Some supplies

No doubt these should keep me busy for a while, and if not, there is always last year's kits, none of which have made it to the bench yet:sad:

Thanks Tim,

Sadly, I only have about 400 to clean. I had planned on buying new sleeves for them after they are washed. My son gave me a catalog with lots of record stuff in it too. His friend also said he has a formula that's way cheaper than the re-fill bottle of solution.
Will PM you shortly with a few other things as I don't want to clog up this thread and get yelled at...

Can also be used for sprue location Dude1 .

True Dude 2, but I have an HZ sprue rack for my (never finished) builds. That rack above will only hold washed LPs, so they can dry...

Probably my last buy of '22. Xmas pressie to myself ️
