I want to have a play with Eduards “improved” decals to see how they perform. I’ve read some bad things but also some good things about them so I decided to try them myself

Geoff.

Had a couple of deliveries, bits and bobs....
New paint brush, some German field grey (running low!) and some "stowage" bits for 1/72 scale (as I am thinking of going back to a some of my earlier 1/72 tanks and revamping them a bit).

Then some more new model figures, as I quite like doing 1:35 figures now....
Some of these may be candidates for the upcoming Poor Bloody Infantry GB, we'll see....

Then I also got some animal figures, used a small puppy dog in my last diorama, and I think the addition of an animal (or two) can really help the dio to stand out, add an extra dimension, etc.... So have a few here to choose from at some point.

And lastly a bridge/checkpoint, tower, barrier, etc, which also may or may not form part of the upcoming PBI GB, as a diorama, thinking about using some parts of the included model set, but not all.

Saw this panel line pen on Barry's thread. He seemed to like it. There are other favourable reviews as well.

Great service as always from John at the SMS. And a free coaster to go on the bench for that modelling necessity - a cup of tea!

OK chaps, so some purchases from the past week or so.

The dental brushes are for cleaning the AB, after some personal recommendations and have already proved their usefulness.....I see Barbatos Rex also reviewed them recently too.

Masks for recent acquisitions.

The scenery stuff was 40% off thanks to some loyalty points.

And another item from the stash....the Blenheim was an absolutely necessary purchase, as I realised I don't have one - how careless of me

- and was 20% off an already very good price thanks to a discount code, which meant most of the mask costs were covered.

ACW as usual

model making new gear 4apr25.jpg

There was a strange box, and when I opened it found this....

I have found that when I use Tamiya fine surfacer primer, (aerosol) which I sometimes use, and it stinks out my study, and probably not good to breathe in, so decided to get one of these just for that, gonna use it in the garage, but seems to have plenty of "suck", (Oo-er Missus!)

Ok chaps so some more essential purchases at today's Hinkley show and as you can see normal service has been resumed, with very good prices literally forcing me to buy these kits.

As you will see one is a bit of a departure from my usual theme!

ACW as usual.

Andrew

----------------------------

These two were only £10 each when £16+ delivered is the norm.

This though in my opinion was an absolute steal....and as you can see a departure from my usual theme. The cheapest I can find online to buy now delivered is £48, although there are a couple of recent eBay sales in the low £40s but that's as low as I could find. This cost me £30 and I judging by the weight is chocked full of plastic - I don't ever recall a kit feeling this heavy....oh and it is still sealed!

I thought it looked good too, need all the help I can get.
Last figure I painted looked like I used an emulsion brush

From the postman today....
An eBay special, some US soldiers at rest....

And also a package from our very own SMS, with a couple of freebies, (thanx John!)
Some more figures, this time German soldiers at rest, and a new XF79 (forgot I ordered this as I also picked one up form a model shop at the weekend, Doh!) and some "Water" liquid stuff, gonna give it a try at some point. And lastly a brick/paviour type roller for imprinting a pattern onto putty, plaster, etc.

My Figure Painting book just came, bought from Books etc on Ebay, sent by Amazon Shipping and delivered by DPD?.
First impressions are good, lots to learn because i'm starting virtually from scratch.

Latest acquisitions for me....
Some mud type paste and some fine type filler.... both for dio ground works, shaping, etc, filling, etc.
model makin gear 9apr25.jpg
Then I saw these on Fleabay and could not resist, some 1:35 scale maps and other period docs....
1_35 scale maps etc apr25.jpg
And lastly today, saw a nice Dragon figure set I've never seen before, so had to buy it, US troops in Nam.....
Perfect fodder for a Dio at some point, hmmm, thinking about it, I've never done "Jungle" before, so that will be interesting!

I used to have a site saved where you could download for free to print yourself all sorts of things like that....will see if i can find it

Yeah, when I did my German BMW R75 bike and sidecar build, the bike rider was meant to be reading a map, the kit had a very basic cut out one on the instruction sheet, but I did a quick search, found some online ww2 maps, copied them into a MS Word doc, shrunk them down to size and printed them off and used them instead, much more realistic, But I thought these were quite good too, and lots to choose from, so...

Oh Matron! I think im coming down with some kind of sickness! ;)

3rd floaty boaty thing ive bought in 3 months .........usually avoid anything matelot for they are a strange lot :p..........but i was in my local model shop looking for something specific...didnt have it but this caught my eye.....remember doing it too many years ago to count lol so i thought i might do it for the vintage airfix gb as well as the devonshire

I've been chauffeuring the wife for the past few weeks after she had foot surgery. I'm not keen on driving the car as a rule, but I have had a bit of practice lately! Anyway, on the way home from her place of employ this evening, she declared a need to pop into Lidl to pick up some bits. They got me....... £4.99. 0.6 to 2.5mm
