Scale Model Shop

Latest Acquisitions (2026)

Some further purchases for imminent delivery from Fields of Glory models.

Some more plaster cast buildings an some wall paper.

Photos at the end of the week.

Update ......... and here they are ......... disappointed

P1020339.webp

great looking model for my pushing back diorama ....... or so I thought .....

P1020318.webp

now ..... on both gable edges, I thought there would have continued the brickwork pattern round ........ but ..... no they have not.

aha I thought ...... the two gable ends ..... which are purchased separately will have the brick work on their ends ..... wishful thinking .

I opened up the package with the ends ..... and ..... the first thing I notice ..... one is broken ....

P1020319.webp

the other isn't ....

P1020322.webp

fair enough ...... then I note that not only are these two casts two different thicknesses ......

P1020323.webp

but neither have the brickwork detail on the edges to comply with the shop frontage. ..... poor on so many levels.

Not only that but the casts themselves have a very disappointing finish on the inside as well.

P1020332.webp

and there are a couple of other horrible extras etc ..... I'm not going to bother with more photo's of that .......

here is a rough idea of what it should look like .....

P1020331.webp

which shows the brickless finished edge.

Now I know I'm aspiring to be a modeller, and part of that will entail cleaning these things up and maybe scribing more detail in order to make the most of the base product but the inside of these casts will take more than a slight tidy up in order to get it to a position that it could accept Daler board etc to give a decent internal finish. between the front cast and the side walls its not a kick in the arse of £40.00.

In fairness I have not contacted them as yet to explain the issue and to get their response. I'm not long in the door. I'll try phoning them first but imagine I'll need to go to the bother of sending them images etc.

anyway ...... next up .....

P1020333.webp

This is not for my Pushing Back diorama ..... I just fancied it for the future....

P1020334.webp

This is block / stone instead of brick and the casts match .....

Toto
and another couple of images .....

P1020336.webp

again .... poor finish but manageable

P1020337.webp

they must deem this kind of finish straight from the mould as acceptable where another couple on minutes would see some of these blemishes resolved before sending these on to customers.

At the very least, the inside of these walls should be flat to take the builders desired finish ..... in my case Daler Board.

here is another showing undulations in the inside wall finish ..... the photos don't show the true extent ..... just crap.

P1020338.webp

I did buy some wall paper which came undamaged and as expected but don't have the enthusiasm to bother highlighting it.

I'll see what I decide to do about these moulds ......

cheers toto

3 No silicon moulds to enable casting roof slates at 1/35th scale.

Arrived yesterday. ( in my absence ) I'll post up a couple of images on my return home at the weekend.

I'll try a clearer image though no guarantee's ...

I think you get the idea ..... now ..... to cast them .... ohhhhhhhh

and some more goodies that arrived at the same time .......

View attachment 1289867

clamps ......

View attachment 1289868

and more clamps ...... you can never have to many ..... especially at about £ 5.00 odds a pack ...... come on China .......

Toto

That's a lot of clamps.....but I know where you're coming from!!!

Hi chaps

Apologies for not being around much but we had a week away on a family holiday.

The following has arrived over the past few weeks.....the last lot of items may be of interest to those of you who do 3D printing.

ACW as usual

Gloves and paint....

I only use one on the hand holding the part being sprayed....and reuse if I can for a while....so will last forever....and the paint is for my P40B

Free from someone out my model club...

Amazing how many horses they used, which I knew about...1.7m in WWI and 2.7m in WW2....but to actually see just what use they were put too.....

Love these Warpaint series books

Great intro on a plane. Got these for good if not great prices...getting harder to find great prices...c.20-25% off usual price....oh and a nice thank you note in a couple of cases....

The Halifax one also has an A2 insert of line drawings.

Tornado, Typhoon and Tempest

This was was indulgent purchase.....the Tempest book is still in print but not the Spotlight On book....absolutely stunning prints...not an information book....more of an art book.

Looking at north of £60 for the pair but I managed to win them as a pair for only £35! Happy was I!'😁

In case you've not guessed....this is effectively 4 A4 sheets wide.

Hellcat...what's not to like!!

I only have night fighter version in this scale plus there are some interesting camo patterns and got it for a good price.

However, the destructions failed the QA test....starts of talking about the FW 190....the very bottom of the blurb has the same issue.

A new P-51D 'variant' to me - not heard of this modification before.

Got this for a very good price....c. 1/3 off what they're currently going for and the cheapest eBay sale by about 10%!! Most, most happy!!! 😁😃😇

Arma 3D prints

This is a sign of how much the hobby has moved on, so please bare with me.

You will recall I got these bases a while back......

Well they come with free 3D prints, which someone printed off for me.....remember 1/72!!.....

You can also pay for a small range of items from their website....and they do a free file for bases for 1/72 P-51Ds...not that they couldn't be scaled up to 1/48!

Couldnt pass this up for 2 quid in a charity shop

Not model related but it's giving me some ideas and reference material for some whiff ideas for the future if I get some decal paper for my scanner/printer
