Scale Model Shop

Liberation, Italy 1944

And a lovely lady she is! A welcome sight to a grim scene Tim,
I'm glad you thought to include her. Cheers, Rick H.

Anyway, we are motoring on now. None of the figures are permanently in place, but I am pleased with the arrangement so far. As I suspected, the rather sombre infantryman in the foreground helps to lead the eye into the scene...

Thanks guys.

These comments are all very welcome.

I don't have any master plan when it comes to composition - but I'm trying to avoid too many figures standing round doing nothing (OK, the dead guy has an excuse) and it may be that the priest and infantryman (he's actually a sniper) are both doing their best to 'out-mood' each other!

But I've got the guy driving the carrier giving a jaunty wave to either the priest or the bella donna - and her smile in return - plus the two guys (captive and guard) marching off to the left. Then I have the partisan enjoying the taste of victory whilst a young officer next to him looks back at the carnage with a slightly less jubilant look.

I'm hoping that, once they are all in place, there will be enough of a story for anyone who cares to project it on to the diorama...

Meanwhile, here are a few shots of the Stug in its latest stage before it joined the scene...

There's still a little bit of touching up to be done - and the road wheels are 'floating' because that is how it will sit on the base.

Thanks Peter!

It's also a joy to be followed.

I am hoping to bring this diorama to the MAFVA show at St Ives in (less than) 2 weeks time. It won't be 'finished finished', but I feel it is time to give it an outing...

Hi Tim.
Looks perfect, think you have handled the scene well, we tend to shy away from the obvious in portraying war on our builds .

That looks the dog's kahoonas to me Tim! Love the black back drop, makes the whole scene pop.
This one looks to be a winner Sir. Cheers, Rick H.

That is excellent Tim - very well done indeed and got to be an award winner if you enter it in competition

(nice to see the candlesticks made it to the scene as well)

Impressive in the photos Tim, but to see it "in the flesh" at MAFVA... quite amazing.

Thanks you all for your comments.

And SimonT - I am very happy to finally give your fantastic candlesticks pride of place...

I am also very proud of the fact that, for my first diorama since I was 16, I managed to win Best of Show at the MAFVA Nationals!

So here are some more shots taken with a better camera than the one on my phone...
