I know I have done a PDF on this but while I was waiting for the carpet fitter to arrive today I thought I would have a go at making a 'tips' video. No worries Dr Cranky, your productions are safe lol

I recently wanted a small, pocket size video camera to use more as a notebook than film making. I didn't want HD as processing is too long, just something light with an reasonable optical zoom and ended up buying a little Samsung that uses SD cards. It isn't going to make great films but it wasn't bought for that, I could use my phone but the digital zoom and the drain on the battery isn't practical.

Anyway, I thought I would give it a go and see what happens. I realise I was too close so that has to be sorted and I didn't bother with a 'Studio" just my cutting mat and my usual lamp. However, I would appreciate your comments good or bad as I may do more of this if I can get it right. Damn that Doctor Cranky, he is taking my life over lol.

Video has lost a tad quality going through conversion for Youtube but was edited using Apple's iMovie on my Mac. Sound is just through the camera and at last you get to hear my beautiful rendition of Queens English lol

Looks good Graham. I would also use a little scotchbrite to rough up the surface before forming on the template/jig it so the paint will 'stick' to it easier aferwards.

Well done Graham, this is what this forum needs more tutorials like this...:xyxthumbs:

Well it ain't Steven Spielberg but I reckon it's pretty good! :lol

Nice, clear description and demonstration.

nice, i love video tutorials,i suggest a new forum area just so you can fill it up with videos for us.it is so much easier to understand things when you can actually see it being done.

Totally agree Andrew. I can read text all day long and not have a clue what someone is on about. But seeing a vid helps me ten fold

What are you trying to say Andrew, is my voice not doing it for you

Excellent Graham, i'm a huge fan of video tutorials and youtube is one of the first places I go when looking for 'how to' help.

Have to say your voice doesn't sound quite like I imagined, I was thinking more along the lines of gravelly but that could be the Lemmy-alike profile pic :)

But that said, I watch videos of myself and think, 'i don't sound like that'!

The video quality was fine incidentally.

More tutorials please, a section for members video tips would be great.

Love the vid, very professional compared with many on youtube

As for the voiceover, one word comes to mind....Saxondale :lol

That profile pic was an old fat bearded fart who does not drink at a Western night in Lanzarote. The weird thing was that on the table was a pitcher of Larger. Given that I don't drink and that I suspected it was so watered down it was shandy, I drank the pitcher. Only problem was, it was replaced as soon as you finished it as it was free booze included in the ticket price. So I drank the next one and yep, it was replaced. Kate took the picture to prove I was pi$$ed enough to pay 20 Euros for a hat that made me look like a drunken fat bearded fart...........

Ahhh, fond memories.......

Grumpy old man productions. That's what my misses calls me some times.

Good little Tut there Graham. Clear, to the point and no bloody annoying music in the back ground!!!

Why do half the videos on You Tube have the sound track of a second rate porno film, (so I'm told) and the other half head-banging death metal!?!?!

More please!

It's very effective. Brilliant idea. Do you have any advice on how to paint them so they look rusted and weathered?

Well Graham! Now you no longer have an excuse to put off that JU-52 scratch-build project ;-)

Quite agree with other posts.

It seems so much simpler when you can see the tip demonstrated.

And starting a thread dedicated to videos is a great idea.

Perhaps with the techno around someone could do a vid of a build from start to finish showing what was done and in what order cos I know most of us don't follow the kit plan order anyway.

Keep up good work.

Tony

Hi Graham,

This is just the type of thing I enjoy/need, you can read & look at pictures all day on how to do something but still not get the hang of it, yet watch a video of someone doing the same thing and I pick it straight away, this is an absolute WINNER...:no1b:

More the better I say, so PLEASE keep them coming...

Thank you...

Andy...
