discussion May go dark for a little while

Hi all. Just to stop any speculation, I may go dark for a little while. On Saturday I’m due to get my right hip replaced, so will be in post op recovery mode for a time. I’ve waited about forty eight weeks, so am glad it’s come around. It’s also better than the seventy weeks I was initially told was the timeline, so hospital wait times are obviously improving here. Need to get to the hospital by half seven in the morning, so I hope the surgeon hasn’t had too much caffeine LOL. Weird feeling though, feeling quite nervous, especially as it’s done under epidural rather than general anaesthetic, but can’t wait for it to happen……. Anyway, I’ll keep up until Saturday morning, and see you all soon. Do the Hippy Hippy shake LOL.

Good luck with your surgery, Tim. My partner had a right hip replacement and was walking within 24 hours - primarily because there never seemed to be any nurses around to get her a bed pan so she went to the toilet instead. However, she had many weeks recovering and even worse she had to put up with a grumpy git (me) who never let her forget her daily exercises! The change in her mobility was amazing though.

All the best to you Tim. Two of our neighbours have had hip replacements in the last couple of years. One was a lady in her 80s who made a speedy recovery and is now gadding about like a good 'un. The other was a lady in her 50s, she had both hips done, recovered quickly and is now back enjoying her hobby of walking and climbing.
The one thing common with both was they did EXACTLY as the doctors advised.
You'll be back marathon running in no time

Good luck Tim.... Especially with the epidural..... Had one of those when I had a back op..... Weirdest of sensations

Make sure you do the rehab exercises or matron will pay a visit

Good luck mate, the wife had her second hip replaced last year by epidural, she said it was a easy which she's had her first one done by epidural.

Thanks guys. Overwhelmed by this response to be honest. What a great forum. Be nice when I’ve recovered and can walk until I’m tired, rather than just until it hurts too much, which is currently about two hundred yards in old money. It’s gone downhill badly in the last few weeks.

For Paul, I’m having sedation as well. No way I want to be aware of anyone cutting the top of my femur off
