It's all looking great Dougie. Very neat.
Cheers, it's funny how you don't see many of the flaws until you use the camera close up... I will be using my magnifying light more on my next builds to try to improve my finishes I think.

Model's looking good Dougie, nice work on the interior. Where did you get those seat harnesses, BTW?
The red plane (and the blue biplane next to it) are from the Porco Rossi movie.
cheers, on ebay

Very nice work on the cockpit detail Dougie.
Ta, this is meant to look out of wrapper so nothing is being done at all. Nothing fancy that is haha, it's got to look like the film lol

That's looking like a very detailed kit, you're going a great job so far.

Looks a beautiful kit Dougie , ive read great things about Fine Molds stuff , the only problem is its quite pricey and hard to find. great job so far , keep the pics coming , cheers tony

Cheers guys, Appreciated. I bought the kit from Japan on eBay. For maybe £15-£20. The detail is great on the kit, it is really really fine and well moulded. Worth the money easily.

Busy busy busy with new baby etc... Have tried to check on here as much as possible but it's not been easy. Hope everyone had a great Christmas.

I have managed to work on the engine and I did get about 4 lots of sanding and priming done on the fuselage after the odd scratch from scribing panel Lines. Hopefully finish this in the next couple of weeks.

Engine was finished in alclad airframe aluminium and aluminium with tamiya grey and green mix. The exhaust manifold is painted using the alclad rust system with some citadel typhus corrosion but I do think I'll add a touch of alclad orange back on top as typhus killed the look a little but added nice texture.

Thanks guys, first aircraft, engine looks pretty good, I tried to sand the mould lines on the side of the cylinder blocks and cut the cooling fan recesses out where they hadn't been from the moulding.

I did read that the engines had a painted coating on them due to using a special alloy that corroded easily but no info on the colour. Also the shaped cone piece is the colour they say to paint the fuselage but in doing the whole plane white I think so I may change that.

Unfortunately the bird is no more. Wandering hands smashed the engine and lost the tail so unless I buy another, which is unlikely given my current stash it's a sad end to the thread. No one is owning up in the house either!

I am pretty annoyed as I was going to finish it this week but if I look on the positive side of things I again have a lot of learning to take away from this kit. Including better stowage of part builds!

Sorry for the let down!

Thats a real shame Dougie , it was looking fantastic . Its not a complete loss though as your build has shown a lot of people what Fine Molds stuff is like and also introduced a lot of us to an aircraft weve never seen before, cheers tony

Cheers man, Appreciate the sentiment. I'm really gutted though. I spent a lot of time and money on it with paint etc... :(

That really is a shame Dougie. I was enjoying watching the build; it's a really nice looking and historical aeroplane. You'll have to keep an eye out for a replacement kit, I'd like to see you build this in the future.
