Mitsubishi Zero

Coming on well. I’m interested in the final finish…the sub top coat work looks great.

Russell, you're ticking every box going for me. I love a well used aircraft.

Thanks Gents. In order to preserve the worn/faded look I am going to paint the Hinomaru. it’ll be the first time I have done that instead of using the decals. Also it will mean no gloss coat as there will only be a few stencils to put on after the main markings are painted so, might as well just put them straight on the paint. Let’s see what happens!

Nice office detail and the stand is neat .
I meant to mention John; the stand is from Bulldog Models. he 3D prints lots of very handy things like these jigs but also tamiya glue pot holders and the like which stops me knocking things over! Very handy as I am a kitchen table modeller and Mrs Russ would be deeply annoyed if I inadvertently pain/glue the kitchen furniture…

The stencil transfers might silver if you put them straight on the Matt paint, and the surface difference will also show. I think you’ll still need to gloss then Matt them to get them to blend in….

Russell looks like your pointing the ab straight down from the photo to avoid the red leaching out ?

Yes John, is that what causes the shinier spots? Hoping to fix it with the varnish. Got the fuselage done too. In hindsight was too focused on my method and lost focus on the position so they are slightly too low on the body…7F4EA2C4-1D12-4658-95E3-51F5F1559883.jpegEA044FB7-3FC6-4E5D-8832-900FA4E211B6.jpeg

Right! honed a new method for the painted hinomaru. Used for topside of wings and then final yellow leading edge stripe done and chipped. Now for some varnish and the rest of the stencils and decals. 773A0C06-2E49-44DB-80DB-7D7603F7B9AD.jpegD0B596BD-61E4-4D1C-BBDD-F360AC4AA336.jpegB32D2DE2-9B79-49FD-9DEE-EC29D2CD6FD2.jpeg35E2C0A7-FC57-4EC5-9095-57D3E070FEB8.jpegAC07DF98-924D-4FD5-B777-DD879D167A6D.jpegE7792C8A-BD1E-47F0-9979-51721B8B0BB4.jpeg

Hi Russell
Excellent looking paintjob. Really nice well worn look. Spraying rather than decals always looks nice.
