Hey all,

Quick tip to add ballast to your tail-sitter aircraft.

Buy a packet of lead airgun pellets for your ballast needs, it's cheap and should last a while.

Take a few lead pellets and squeeze them flat with a pair of pliers - this way you can fit in more weight. I then use normal wood glue to fix them into place - the glue dries without reacting with the plastic and neatly holds the lead in place.

Hey Alan,

Blutac works a treat. I simply used woodglue because I had to add the ballast after joining the fuselage halves and I had limited space! Suppose that's what I get for rushing the build, haha!

I use pieces cut from a bit of lead roof flashing.

im sure i remember reading somewhere that ca glue reacts with lead.....slowly!

it sort of grows a coating which as it expands will cause fuselage halfs to crack open.....but it does take years

I use copper coated steel shot from air guns i got 1500 for just over a fiver my last lot lasted for ten years and i still have a 1/4 left.

Some good tips here I use plastacine usually as it can be moulded in to nooks and crannies.

got some fishing bombs from go outdoors cheap. fit in nose of my 1/72 tornado. 7 grams each one

Lead flashing for me as well. Chop it up into tiny bits and I too try to avoid the use of CA and either hold it in place with a blob f blue tak or white glue.

I don't bother with either....its cheaper LMAO

Joking, I use whatever's in the kit...as and when I get one
