Well I have not been totally idle all this time.

I had this in the stash and fancied a nice quite build so no under construction for this one.

A bit about the build:

This was my first attempt at a full re-scribe. Being an older kit the panel detail was all raised so out came the P-cutter...

Just to be cussed I did this as a Royal Navy version. The Yellow black "korea stripes" brightening the otherwise dull overall dark sea blue paint job.

Point of interest: The radar dome hanging off the bottom of the fuselage on these aircraft actually cost more than the airframe!

Hope you like and I am open to comments.

Not a bad kit to build and looks OK.

And it is meant to be shiny!

Now that's one weird-looking Skyraider!

Not your build Ian, just the bits added to it! I really like the colour scheme with the stripes :)

Maybe a bit more lighting next time to show it in it's glory?

Maybe the sun will come out tomorrow...

Build fantastic 10/10 love the colour scheme , the radar dome makes it look like a pregnant stickleback lol

None the less it does look stunning Ian

Excellent job Ian , it looks super. Its a very characterful aircraft the Skyraider , even more so when in seldom modelled schemes and marks like this. I love the better old monogram kits , for their time the details and subjects were hard to beat ,and with a little care and modelling skill they can still turn out a first class result as seen here , top job , cheers tony

the model looks great :) good job there

you have a lot of white in the background, you would need to set your exposure compensation up a little... maybe 1 stop

Cracking job Ian ............ Very nicely done.

I hope you don't mind a comment .......... But, it seems a bit shiny, and maybe a dull coat ??? or is it supposed to be or is it just the lighting or my eyes ???

Hmm I took a reading off the aircraft.. Still it was a bit gloomy and used the phone.. I'll try some more tomorrow.

it does say in the post that it's supposed to be shiny. But yes maybe a bit to much...

Alan. I believe that they used to call them "the big blue guppy"

Odd then, if it's dark. By rights it should have made the whole thing brighter. Must have hit exposure limits for iso and camera shake or maybe just a duff reading. Not sure depends on the camera

Great looking Skyraider Ian. I didn't know there was a Monogram kit of this version.

Awesome work Ian, nice smooth paint finish and quite striking (no puns intended) in that Korea scheme.

Very nice model Ian. Pristine and just out of the factory. Superb paintwork as seen in the last photo. Yes like to see the others a bit lighter (don't think any body has commented on the photography yet ;) ).

Are the yellow stripes yours Ian or decals. Which ever they have turned out very crisp.

That is not the "Sandy" that I remember......

That very similar to the Fairey Gannet AS Mk.1/4.

Very different, I like it!! :)

Very nice build Ian. Those over all blue schemes can be difficult to make interesting but those stripes really do the job brilliantly. Just wondering, do you know what the navy used this aircraft for???
