Yesterday. Crunch day. Cavity Key Hole Day had arrived.

Just 3/4
of one model making day lost to "donating my Gall Bladder". This has to be a record.

7:30am Up early (for me). Cleaned room airbrushes etc.. No food (darn it) cup of tea 25% milk they said :rolling:

11:00am Went into hospital. Faffing about I was asked date birth, name what procedure I was having continually in 2 hours.
Consultant relayed to me all that could go wrong. :astonished: Thoughtfull of him. Thankfully he missed out the death bit. :flushed:

1:00 pm Oh utter Sacriledge. All those operated on in the morning & day before sat in bed eating lunch while I & one other looked on "starving to death".:worried::confused:

4:30pm Operation under way. Oh yipee. Text book apparently. Nurse told me the medics & nurses considered I looked 70 rather than 82. Totally agreed.;)
Now not sure here if they meant my body or looks. By non elemination both I suppose :tears-of-joy::tongue-out::tongue-out3:

6:00pm Things looking up food 6:00pm soup & salad tuna & egg sandwiches (no fats) Yogurt. Absolutly top fare delicious.

7:30pm. Vital signs checked before delivery home. Yep still breathing. Discharged youngest daughter summoned to be transport.

8:00pm Home. Bowl of soup & a slice of bread. Non 000% beer : promise.

11:00 pm Appetite I thought needed further testing, scientific thought. So constructed a little gem lettuce sandwich. Kind made one for Pauline plus 2 radishes.

today Back to model making today. Tut missed 3/4 of a day yesterday. :tongue-out3::tongue-out2::tongue-out3:
All my troubles now seem so far away sorry beetles t

Puzzled what happened to my preciously gifted Gall Bladder they're not giving it back. Did not even get a brief visual. :disappointed:

Well, call you Mr. Lucky............only missed 3/4 of a day!! :thumb2: Glad yer back and feelin' O.K.!.......I made it rhyme.......give me a dime! Rick H.

Ah Laurie, you're one whose now missing a gall bladder like me. I'm back on fats but in minute proportions. Was this scheduled or complications actuated the procedure?
3/4s of a day is fantastic as opposed to the few days I was admitted.
I guess there are post check up visits. You should be starting to eat regularly soon.

Cheers,
Richard

Well done that man good to hear the hole (did you see what I did there)procedure went with out a hitch, in the last fifteen years I've had quite a lot of bits and pieces investigated those that shouldn't be there taken away one even put back where it should have been all this taken in my usual hey ho what ever way, its the brave family that do all the worrying without letting you know their fears, so to all on site with ailments (seems to be quite a few)let's not forget them they should be receiving grapes and flowers. Any way Laurie over the next few days just do as told life will still be there make sure you can come out swinging. Dave

Great stuff. Glad you are fine.....and don’t worry about being asked your details all the time. It’s a useful check. After all, you wouldn’t want to go in for an ingrowing toenail and come out after having your tonsils out would you :tongue-out3:
You raised an important question though....what is no fat youghurt made from........youghurt is supposed to be made from milk and cream!

Yes got up to 12 times asking identity. Hospital 20 years ago after an accident. Young teenager comes back from foot surgery all very quiet about 8 in ward at that time.
Suddenly came this screaming wail 110 decibels. The got the wrong foot. One hour later back to the theatre .

Should have termed it Tim low fat. But close Jersey Yogourt has 4% fat. Being Jersey milk best in the world. Even have Jersey Cows in Perue. There cows kept falling off the hillside. Jersey cows are sure footed lower (also have superb face features} in height & have solved the problem. We refused there cows into the Island. Only Aberdeen Angus & Jersey Cows allowed.

Father had a small herd of Jerseys when I was born - apparently, shouldn't feed babies with their milk, never did me any harm

Laurie, glad everything is fine, now, appetite included and that those fine Jersey cows are having a role in restoring your health.;)
I had a similar experience last month, with hospital procedures not with cows ;) , when I had to remove some "undesirable extra" from my inner right nostril (docs call it paranasal sinus)... I was inquired about my name, surname and DoB every time a new nurse or doctor came in contact with me even inside the surgery room... then someone told me to breath deeply ... ... letting my bar-code bracelet face every further questioning during the following 90 min.:relieved:.
Unlike you, I had to stay in hospital for 3 days and wait until breakfast next day before biting some solid food, if 3 small biscuits and a cup of tea (no milk) fall within the "food" category, that is 36 hrs fasting... at lunch time I could have swallowed a roasted rhino!
Happy modelling and may the gods of cooking spread their wings on your table.:smiling:

Joking David putting up shelves. Reorganising works are. At 82 no days are spares. Although I have decided to go to 100 then have a meeting with myself to sort the next target. :tongue-out:

Well I do believe they ony use now 25% fat milk as it is very thick Gerry. Your father's cows may not have had the same fat content. Apparently there is something in the soil over granite (soil is of course ground granite) which makes superb grass fodder. Jersey Royal Potatoes will not grow in the same way elsewhere. Plus Jersey Cows have been banned fertilized grass. All cow manure & Vraic (seaweed colected by the farmers in the Autumn when the strong tides bring the stuff in).

The Jersey Dairy make butter yoghourt & cheese. To go with the cheese the Vinery make superb Savignon Balanc. Now you will understand why I came to Jersey for just one year & have rooted here for 59 years.

This was back in the '50s ;) apparently the cows were my 'mounts' as I used to ride them when they went out to pasture (can't remember, honest!)

I remember the incessant identity checks that I nearly blurted the wrong name...you see I have trouble pronouncing 'r' and I stammer so saying Richard can be difficult at times and starting with my middle name is easier, I then follow it with the full name. Or I would start with...my name is Richard...you can see my stress levels increasing as I was nearing the OR and it wasn't the thought of the operation.
Another thing, why do they always ask you to count to ten when three is enough...I'm already unconscious by two. :tears-of-joy:

Cheers,
Richard

Thanks Andy much appreciated.

Chatting to a couple in the ward. One had had 9 months on & off. Thought damned good omen. Not sure why they tell you, the medic, so many remote things that could go wrong. Just got to put your trust in them not much else to do.

Actually I do not mind being in hospital. Find it is a happy place. Nice people to chat to. Nice nurses you can cheek.
My pshcho not much I can do about anything. Take it as it comes.

Life is a thread quite strong but as you get older it just sags a bit & becomes just a fraction brittle. So what. Incredible supping soup & eating a delcious sandwich 90 mins after an op.
