From a tactical viewpoint the sandbags would draw an observers eye immediately! Therefore continue the foliage from the existing across the front face of the position - remember things are seen because of shape, shine, silhouette, surface and spacing (you can include colour and sound just to be pedantic but they are basically initial attractors!). Looking good so far!

Thanks Steve, of course your right . I guess sand bags would have been more effort and time too when dug out earth works would have blended in far better. I'll make a few adjustments, organise some kinda camo/vegetation.

My recommendation is, buy a roasting tray or use an old surplus one, oven at 180° spread soil out 1cm deep? bake for 20mins, kills bugs, seeds etc, sieve thru strainers into grades...... lasts forever, and you can add chalks or pigments to lighten or darken colour, i have from my travels many types of soils or clays...... an x partner called me Sgt. Miller lmao

Thanks Allen, the figs are demanding little blighters much of the time, I find it hard to do half hr here and there, have to sit with them for a few hrs at a time. Guess there is no quick fix.

Think you have absolutely nailed the 'Nightshift method'. I saw his video of this recently and it really does make sense. Looking forward to trying it myself...although sure it's not as easy as it looks. Be very happy if I achieve your results.
I did that once and discovered lots of ferrous bits sparking away
Kew Gardens sterilise soil by putting it in the freezer for a couple of hours.

Firstly,.... I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA about using real earth for Dios:disappointed2:,HOWEVER, i find that all that hassle to use it can be avoided!...
.... I just paste on a little PVA,scatter some bird grit and whichever other additions you may want,say, stones/rocks,then stain in a relevant base earth colour,(Depending on which region you want to portray).... Job done:thumb2:... No Gardening required!!:tears-of-joy:
Obviously it`s just my methods... but they work IMHO !!
Second question is,which MG Team is that which you have done?,They look absolutely awesome by the way
....
They look a little like a set i have from Academy.... but with some subtle differences?

Sorry to be old mister negative Peter, but there is no way that freezing things will sterilise them. Biologicals such as bacteria, tissue samples, and seed libraries, are kept at -70 DegC to keep them viable. The master cell bank for the main product I worked on for thirty odd years was stored this way in the nineteen sixties and still gIves viable cell lines in 2022…for example.
Some seeds need to be frozen and thawed before they germinate as well. Can’t name any species off the top of my head, but I bet John can
Freezing can selectively reduce bioburden, killing such things as germinated annual plants by disrupting cellular material, as the water crystals grow large enough to burst structures if the freezing is done slowly. However, the only way to sterilise anything (achieve a six log reduction in viable biological material) is by filtration, by heat, by treating with chemicals, by exposure to ultra Violet light, or by exposure to radiation. This was a standard interview question for biopharmaceutical production candidates throughout my career :smiling5:

), However, the main thing is the AFVs,Figures,to stand out
The base is indeed critical.... But only to supplement the main protagonists... NOT to take top seat!!
Only my thoughts, obviously, but I have done,and seen,MANY Dios done with a very pleasing outcome without all this "Earth Drying" nonsense !!

Yes, sorry, I should have put quote marks around 'sterilise'. Freezing the compost is apparently how they reduce the probability of introducing pathogens with new plants, according to one of the staff at their quarantine centre who was interviewed on the radio a couple of week ago. Possibly she was referring only to killing off any insect life? I tried using lentils as cobble stones pushed into my polyfiller base, didn't think it through, and naturally they expanded over night!
Became more of a rocky road
The MG team are tamiya German Machine Gun Troops, good value I thought.
