Forgive me if this has been done before but do you have something you hate about our beloved hobby?

I can sum mine up with one word.... PITOT :smile10:

if a kit has one, nine out of ten times i'll break it off at least once

Canopy masking for me , -and not a pet hate but a real pain in the rear - dropping tiny bits onto the floor and subsequently into limbo! tony

Just when things go wrong.

Hating myself when things go wrong.

I am just a vicious circle.

Badly engineered parts. The sort you look at and think "why on earth have they done that?".

Antennae. Bound to break them off. And PE bits that are so small The Borrowers wouldnt use them.

I always forget to put something one the model. I take the photos, i post the photos, then the part is looking at me when i'm cleaning up.

Have fun, John

My big problem is the airbrush, in fact the painting!!

Always, and I don't know how, spill the painting throughout!! I need a new airbrush and better one that I have.

I'm more time cleaning that painting...

Bad instructions, directions and/or illustrations (are you listening DML?)

Mould seams in clear parts! Why do they do that! If it cant be moulded in a press with out making a seam, so make vacuum formed ones FGS!!

Thats my biggest bug for aircraft.

Armour...Got to be those rubber band tracks. When they are good they are at best OK when they are bad they are bloody awful.

And why have 90% of kit makers stopped saying how long things like antenna and the like need to be and just say use stretched sprue!

Last one. Paint guides. What gives with all these mix this, that and the other 6:11:49 just to paint a part the size of a finger nail!!! They even make paint! SO MAKE THE DARN COLOUR!!!

Fiddly bit`s for me, Loss of feelings in finger tips......great fun!

Just a minor one for me - Vallejo and their so called equivalents !!

I'm with mk1, not enough time for modelling. I do my building at work so even if im in the workshop I only get 1 hour day split into two 15min and one 30min breaks. I long for a garden big enough for a workshop!

Regards

Chris

Doing a good paint job which takes forever which is then marred by thin decals which tear and/or varnish which doesn't do what it is supposed to. I have had a few issues with Tamiya's matt TS80 lately, which is why I haven't posted anything new recently.

Hi Joe,I'm not a massive fan of Vallejo paints being mainly an enamel kind of guy these days. I know they have their fans (where are you Laurie!) amongst the acrylic users. I am however a big fan of their varnishes. I've used various brands with varying results but have had the most success with the Vallejo products.

I don't know what the availability would be down in NZ but if you can get them they would be worth a go.

Cheers

Yes here Steve just like a thorn in the backside !

Yes agree Colin some of their pairings are not so good. I always check with others who have produced equivalent lists. But Vallejo do have the largest, with Model Air & Model, array of colours 310 that are available any where so you are more likely to find an equivalent. Tamiya for instance have 86.

You can also obtain from Vallejo hand painted colour cards which will give exact colours.
