Hooray, a very model-ly Christmas as Chez GF! Surprisingly so, actually...

I bought the boy a model I want him to try on his own:

With a bit of help in the "sharp things & chemicals" department from yrs trly, think he should be able to manage this as his first 'did it on my own' model. He's 7 in a few weeks, so maybe a touch young but he seems keen so I don't want to discourage him on age alone.

I was put in charge of my own prezzie-buying - not something that leads to many surprises, but does lead to getting what I actually want... rather than jumpers! I got myself some Draper needle files, a set of Rolson tweezers (the type that actually meet at the end unlike the pair I had previously nicked from SWMBO), a pin vice and a few drill bits (might have stuffed this one up as the pin vice won't close on the two smallest bits... grrr, they came as a set!).

Oh and my first 1/48 scale plane:

Looking forward to getting into this, will prob do it with engine exposed as per box art just to see if I can. May also try using bits of wire & solder etc to mock up the various pipes not included as parts. Will involve some research so could be fun.

Then...

Then things got a little out of hand! SWMBO bought The Boy a model too - but she was a little more ambitious! I think the agenda is: Dad & Boy together = "me time"! So we have one of these...

The Boy is very excited, and we weren't allowed to wait on this...

And Granny sent another not-very-kid-oriented model:

To be fair, I knew this one was coming and have been preparing for it... but had it out of the box yesterday and it's a quantum leap ahead of what I've done before, so The Boy isn't going to really have much to do here... other than destroy it once it's made of course.

So - there you have it, an excellent haul! I'm going to be benefiting from my son's prezzies quite handsomely.

So how has Santa treated the rest of you? Want to share in yr joy! Spill it!

Some great models there, I have the U.S.S Ronald Reagan by revell to build at some date. Looks like the Red-Arrows is a good build for your son, hope he has fun and he always has Dad on hand to help him out.

Si:)

Some good stuff there Alister :) your son should be ok with that red arrows kit with you giving him some advice :)

That enterprise kit looks like a busy one :)

That Keil Kraft looks interesting but a 1/72 that could be a tad small for my hands lol. I like the CH-53 Peter, and knowing you it should be a superb build too.

Si:)

I like the look of that mustang peter :) I've seen a few with RAF marking now and I'm thinking of having a pop at one

I got the 1/48 Javelin fro The better half and some organiser boxes.

So a bit of plastic for me as well- LOL

As we are on about kits recieved in the last couple of days I will share what I have been lucky to have got.

Three I knew about as I had picked them the other two were a nice suprise from one of the grand kids and SWSBO.The 1st kit I had been watching on evilbay but was working when it finished so couldn't bid so thought I had missed it. The 2nd and 3rd one SWSBO purchased from DaveW on here with my help. 4th is the Stallion wich I knew I was getting and lastly the B-52 in 1/72 was a total suprise (this one will have to be suspended from the ceiling once built) I am very tempted to convert it from the G variant to the H when I start it.

All the military vehicles in operation Hendricks in Afganistan. Pauline is still unaware she bought them for me as a Christmas Present. Keeping it as a surprise.

Looks like there should be some good builds coming up looking at what we have all been given.

Oh well, not a single model this year. Not too much of a challenge as I still have an attic full and still no workshop! Hopefully the new workshop will be ready just as I'm about to go back to work again!

I got the a39 tortoise from Santa apparently he got a note telling him not too send too many models

My Christmas was very devoid of plastic. So birthday very soon, meaning BIG hints have been dropped.

I don't suppose you'd want to tell us how you managed to get someone else to buy your Xmas pressies without them knowing? I have a loooooong list!
