NP Dave at the time im displaying her, prior to the battle of Watling Street, her husband Prasutagus had been killed by the Romans and her daughters raped, hence she was a bit disgruntled, you know what they say "hell hath no fury etc etc "

Paul

..... and Steve's (Stona) missus is giving him grief about the lid of the loo! Amazing what some womenfolk can get disgruntled over innit?

Gern

Weapons look great Paul.

BTW what IPMS show? I went to the sword and lance show which was organised by the Darlington Military Modelling Society, didn't know IPMS had anything involvment.

............. Yep, the odd killing and raping here and there get's right up their chuff......... I think swinging a sword around though is a little excessive.

I'm still watching this thread Paul and still as much admiration for your skill here matey.

Hi many thanks for all the comments guys, I appreciate you all taking the time to leave your remarks. heres a pic of roughly where the bow carrier will go

So now we move on to the boss lady herself. Im going for having her standing on the back of the chariot rallying the troops before the battle, she will have a spear in her right hand and a shield in her left

As far as clothing goes, she will be wearing mens style trousers with a longish tunic and a chainmail shirt, im also going to add a quite elaborate belt

more to follow

Paul

She looks a bit shorter than I had imagined. Also how old was she? Just wondering.

Hi Ian, the pictures don't do it justice im afraid, the mannequin is of average height and she would have been in her mid to late 30s

Paul

Oh God I think I'm married to her....

LOL

Ok Ian....you will have a nice wife

Excellent like always Paul.

The chariot is really taking shape Paul ...

I remember reading that she was a heavy set woman .. contrary to the majority of images you see.

Not sure how true this would be but history shows we were a little shorter back then ..

Shouldn't matter too much with your model what with all her garb you're intending on adding.

Look forward to seeing her progress.

Polux thanks matey

Joep shes resin ;)

Colin yeah ive read a few descriptions of her, I think the only thing that will matter is the long red hair

I though she was short too but I think it's an effect of picture framing from top. Taking the picture at her eyes level will probably change things.

Great work, Paul.

Colin im having at it

Ian sounds like my other half, although she is blonde for now but that could change at any given day, the way I look at it is I get a new wife every few months :D

Francesco eye level pictures coming up next

Ok moving on quickly, I started with her strides, same as the drivers

I also thought I would have a go at doing a hair plait, I might have a plait either side and the rest of the hair going over her cloak, anyway heres the first go at it, not perfect I know but I think with a bit of cleaning up it might be passable

Im also sculpting the right hand holding the spear, I really hate it when you see a kit and the hand is supposed to be holding something but the fingers are not clasped around it, if that makes sense, :( . So blobbed some milliput on the spear shaft and hacked away

Still a bit to do on the hand, the fingers are to chunky so they will need to be trimmed down a bit

All for now

Paul

Love the trews. Not sure about the plat though. Have you tried actually plating three strands of milliput? I think it will look much better than the sculpted strip you have used.

Ian M

Cheers Ian, yeah it was the MK I version, i have tried with 3 strands of milliput but it just falls apart because it has to be so thin, Back to the drawing board then
