looking forward to the D VII For some obscure reason I have one in the little museum down the road from me here in Quebec. I think it's one of the only all original versions still left.

Good afternoon all,

Tim, thanks:thumb2: the Ushi stuff is really forgiving to use just patience and steady hands required.:tongue-out3:
John, found out yesterday that our air force museum has a post-war DVII in the collection, always thought it was a Koolhoven plane:upside::rolling:.
Is yours the one in Knowlton?

Well after painting the rigging VJ Steel, a light brown wash here and there and giving it all a coat of VJ satin I'm calling her done:

In all a fine kit by Eduard, parts fit pretty good just make sure to test fit and remove any paint on the joints.
The decals are very nice too, not too thin and will conform to most of the surfaces with some help, if I'm building this one again I'll sand down the ribs so the decals will settle down easier.
Very pleased how my first attempt at lozenge turned out, on to the next one but first there's still a rotary wing thingy on the bench that needs completion...:smiling:

Thanks for looking in and as always all comments etc are welcome.
Fernando

Fernando,
very nice! I agree with you about sanding the ribs down - they prevent you from moving the decals around, being too sharp on the top - not that I'm likely to be taking on another lozenge camouflage aircraft!
I have, I admit, a Roden 1/72 Gotha GV, it has lozenge decals on the wings AND the fuselage, it sits in my stash - in the pile marked ' You must be joking!', along with a part finished Roden 1/72 Felixstowe F2A, that I had to put away to preserve what is left of my sanity!

Well done Fernando. A real little beautiee. You have every right to be pleased. Wonderful stuff mate:cool:

Hi Fernando
That is a great result. Well done with decals. They most certainly must have tested your skills and patience. One to be proud of.
Jim

Fernando.
Spell bound , you are one serious modeller, that is a superb build . :thumb2::thumb2::thumb2::thumb2::thumb2:

Sorry for the late reply guys but many thanks for the kind words, much appreciated.:thumb2:
Maybe I have some time to start on the D.VII in the coming week.

Morning all, well it took a bit longer to get back to the D.VII with the SMC entry, 1/1 work and more keeping me from it....
Firstly the sprue pics:

The decals:

Marking options, I'm aiming for the box art one flown by Walther Blume(last one):

Having started a couple of weeks ago with some sub-assemblies, most of the airframe was completed last week.
Forgot to post my progress before.....
One engine to hide away, there are optional parts to make it with a visible one:

Fit was less than ideal with careful sanding and filling around the tail and nose:

A simple interior, although mostly unseen:

The Gaspatch MG's I got at SMC are a fine addition for this one, the variant may not be totally correct but I like them.:smiling:
Superfine resin parts, here they are with the PE gunsights already glued on:

And this is how it looks like now with most of the color and masking still on:

With one week till the deadline of the GB, this one won't make it but I hope it won't be much overdue.
Thanks for looking in.
Fernando

Fernando,
those lozenge decals, and rib tapes look a bit tricky - at least Eduard gave you the lozenges in one piece! I must confess, I'd only made 1/72 models by Roden, they had some superb WWI stuff, Sopwith Snipe & Salamander, I remember - sadly a little too small for me now!
Dave

Fernando .
That engine detail is superb, looking fwd to the first flight.

Evening all,

Dave W, John, Rick, Tim and Dave S thanks for the kind words guys.:thumb2::thumb2:
Dave W, the decals are tricky indeed more on those later...

Managed to finish the AB work, followed by some touch ups and two coats of gloss before I started with the decals.
As I have had before with Roden their decals can be quite tricky to settle in but with the wings Lozenge it was impossible...
Even with a couple of coats of Microsol and Mr.Hobby they stay stiff and don't conform to the wings shape:sad::sad::
View attachment 319483
View attachment 319484
As you can see too any sharp bits on the wings also easily pierce the decals adding damage to the surrounding area....
Top wing is made up by 8 decals BTW 4 per side.:upside:

But...not all is lost on this build, have ordered a Lozenge set from the States so until it arrives this one goes back in the box.:rolling:
TBC...
Fernando

It's often a bitter-sweet experience in this hobby.
If there's one thing likely to make my temperature rise, it's decals.
The H-word probably does apply.
Good luck with the future endeavours here.
DS

Ahh, part two. I wondered where this had got to. I know those decals are a right pain, but just think what the alternative is !

Wouldnt it have been easier to paint the camo on!:smiling5:

Those machine guns are awesome. I hope they come up well once painted. Great stuff:thumb2:
