I have started on the stowage. One of the big bergen's had its moulded straps removed and replaced with thin pewter strips and etch buckles, I still have one to do


and some pictures of the nearly complete hull.

Hi Steve, thanks mate. Yes that would be a nice touch. The kit includes a set of headphones but it just shows these laying on the seat with no cable.

I was going to start the paint process today but it dawned on me I still had the antenna frame to fit. I also added the cable to the rear strut and some final detail to the hull sides this consisted of a tag and tie down to both sides.


Next up was the spare track links and towing cable. I also made some hangers from some PE off cuts.



This is a first for me making up the track runs and wheels as a removable item. It seemed to go ok as it's not a big item on this vehicle.
I will see if it works out easier to paint and weather.

Got the basic colours on today, using Tamyia Dark Yellow and panzer grey. Next my favourite bit the weathering.

Hi,Paul. Looking well up to your usual standard. Your paintwork looks excellent, but one comment if I may. From many hours poring over photo's of the actual vehicle used by Rommel it appears that it was never painted in a camouflage scheme. It is obvious, especially along the top of the fighting compartment, that the darker patches are just where the hastily applied "desert" camo has worn away. That said, as always it is your model to do with as you wish. I just tend to get very pedantic after over 60 years studying the North African campaign.

Hi John, no apology necessary and I really appreciate the feed back. Unfortunately I have already done all my weathering and shading etc otherwise I would have resprayed it. I did think it was strange to have this colouring as I don't recall it on other desert schemes but I am no expert in any fields of conflict I just tend to follow the instructions. Hopefully my finish will be good enough so no one notices. Thanks again for the heads up.

Very nearly finished on the weathering now. I still have to add the external stowage but getting there.




I need to redo the jerry cans I'm not happy with them.

Looking really nice Scottie, I know what you're doing with the chipping ... add the lighter colour first then the dark over it leaving just the outline of the light colour showing. This gives the impression of new paint underneath the grime before the oxidised metal body. Overall beautifully rendered weathering...just enough. Many overdo it till it looks like something out of a junkyard that still runs.
