I need a newer car. I've found one I like but the dealer isn't offering as much as I'd like for my current car (2015 Focus Estate). Has anyone any experience of using the online purchasers like webuyanycar, motorpoint, etc?

You will find that although the price they apparently offer sounds good, normally when you present the car for payment they will find lots of little reasons to chip you on the price and hope you accept a lower one. try to sell privately? What are the details? I have a Focus Estate too - maybe a fellow member might fancy it?

I have a friend who went to We Buy Any Car. They offered him an initial price based on photos emailed in, but when he got there they used every faint scratch and scuff to knock the price way down. He walked away.

Wouldn't touch WBAC with a bargepole. Mate of mine was offered £600 for his car. Took it through to the showroom and they tried to knock the price down to £85! Suffice to say he walked away after a few choice words and sold it privately for £600

2015 1.5 diesel Titanium X, with extras (it's ex Ford management). Self parking, sensors, reversing camera, heated seats, heated windscreen, 85000 miles, FSH. Looking for £6000.

I've never used them myself, but on the Focus ST forums, some have recommended 'Motorway' as one of the better ones. That doesn't mean they're good !

WBAC offerd me £600 for a car that was worth £3000 that was before they see it and had a chance to knock me down, so i made an appointment to go see them...... everyweek for about 6 months lol.

I'd tend to start on Parkers and get a free and accurate valuation to begin with, then go from there. You'll obviously get more from a private sale, but then have the faffing about that entails. A dealer swap or trade-in may be a good option? I've not used these trade in site myself so can't help much there I'm afraid. Best of luck!

Thanks for the input guys. I've made contact with Motorway and sent them photos, waiting for a response now. I also have an appointment with WBAC; I'm not expecting much from them but they have a local office and it won't cost me anything.
Parkers quote a wide range of prices that includes the values I've been offered. Yes, selling privately seems like a lot of hassle compared to a simple trade-in.

Pete you have heard all the advise against wbac an in my opinion i would not touch them either as when i last changed my mazda 6 TS2 in for a seat toledo turbo sport injection an i got a very good deal yes i know people dont like forein cars but ive been very pleased with mine yes got a hard suppenshin as it a sport but never let me down exctpet once on a flat batt as it was 6 yrs old an i had been playin the cd for several hrs while waitin for jen to do her shoppin but it got cruise con an other gadgets in an im happy an that was from a dealer so in my opinion go round the dealers until you get a reasonable price an deal but dont get done

You might be better trying your luck sticking it on ebay motors, second hand cars at sensible prices are still in demand at the moment.

Have you thought about looking at 'Cinch',
Mrs L bought a 2017 Fiesta, (with all the toys) and they gave her a really good price...
(I think it was at least £800 higher than most other places were offering for her 2014 Corsa..basic model ), due to her trading it in against her new car...
and a 14 day no questions asked guarantee..

Well, my car has gone! Signed up with Carwow and motorway. Both ignored my instruction to hold the listing until the last week of January (so I didn't have to tax the new one). Carwow sold it for £1500 more than the Ford dealer was offering as a part ex value, but then knocked £250 off when I pointed out a couple of rust spots. WBAC valued it the same as the Ford dealer. So, it was picked up today, money in my bank account within minutes, so now I'm without a car until my 'new' one (actually 2021 reg) is ready on Friday.
I'm quite pleased with Carwow, except for them selling the car too early.
