Not my sort of thing Steve. Used to like watching the sealed knot though, and saw a fantastic reenactment at Gettysburg when I was on holiday. That one had full cavalry regiments. The pubs the night before were fabulous, soldiers everywhere!

I would have loved to have seen Gettysburg! The 'Colonials' do such excellent re-enactments! (No malice intended!). I went to places like the Alamo and Little Big Horn but never coincided with any displays - as for pubs, they were always good for a scrap ("My little Jock mate thinks your Drill Sergeant looks like a 'nice boy'... ! Lights, action, camera!!!)

Don't go in for re-enactments myself......prefer the real thing , been collecting Militaria for near 50 years. I date back as far as the Spanish American War........wish I could go farther back into History but the pocket book won't allow it. Rick H.

Hope I haven't gone overboard but here's where I retreat to when I can't get an in-depth conversation, on such diverse subjects as Cartesian Mathematics or Probability Theory, with my two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. I assure you there is modelling material in there - somewhere!
Sooooooooooo jealous :loudly-crying: :loudly-crying: :loudly-crying: :loudly-crying: :loudly-crying:

Would love to see some of your collection Rick!

What is your interest Steve and maybe I have something you would like to see......most of my collection is focused on WW2 but as I said, there is some WW1 and I was lucky enough to pick up a few items from the Spanish American conflict.

I have an eclectic range of interests - all and sundry, any time frame, any nationality! I just want to get jealous!

The reason I asked for a specific interest is that I have 5 foot lockers full of various and sundry artifacts from different periods. I have no real display space such as Steve's. Here are a few shots of stuff that's just laying around. I was mistaken, it's actually 6 foot lockers. Rick,
Thanks for that! If you need some display space I can probably find some in my cave!!! ;)

Subject to managements orders here at Race Towers a full clean of the cave has taken place ! :cold-sweat:
I'm still suffering from shock, mainly because I started to enjoy the exercise. This is very worrying because normally I will work until It can't find anything, but this time things were so what in order.Well for me anyway.

Actually took all the clutter outside off the desk, threw away a load of knackered brushes, sorted lengths of timber and moved them out of the way.
Put short lengths of Balsa into a container. Even cleaned the cave chair !
On good authority I gather the floor will be next, beacons knows what we will find .

Even bought a new cheap CD player.

Of course this is not an attempt to gain entry into the TBC
I currently am banned for 5 years for attempting to gain entry the last time .

Looks good John.

Great collection Rick. What is the date/origin of the pickelhaube helmet? It looks pre WW1.....

Not sure Tim.......have not researched it as of yet........it and the Shako sort of fell into my hands at a garage sale (do you have those in the UK?) some years ago and has been packed away until recently. It has no markings on it but I'm sure it is a standard pattern. definitely enlisted ranks head gear. Rick H.
