SimonT - Tamiya 1:35 Sturmmorser Tiger (AAGB)

Still raining here Simon, time to get up and head to the cave I've been told !

Hi Simon
Absolutely persisting down here and has been all yesterday and over night. A definite staying in day.
Fans look fine and just might show.

Same here Jim - couldn’t have got any wetter on my walk home from work last night if I had jumped in the river :smiling5:

Very cool :smiling: fan work. Awakened to cold & rainy. Good bench day. Give driving lesson to grand daughter on Saturday mornings so two cuppa w/breakfast. PaulE

Woke up to 2 inches of snow! It was predicted but I guess I was in denial. Supposed to be 50 degrees F tomorrow.

Simon

Loving the work you've done so far and the fan idea for under the grills is very cool.

knocked together a couple of HeroHobby fuel drums - bit different in that they are split horizontally rather than vertically

stig-030_2019-10-28.jpg
main gun assembled and installed in upper hull

stig-031_2019-10-28.jpg
added the back end of an mg34 as there is a chance it could be seen through the roof hatch. Drum magazine made from a sprue bobble

stig-032_2019-10-28.jpg
an Aber turned brass mg34 barrel added on the outside

I also went around all the torch cut edges and welds with the pyrogravure

stig-026_2019-10-28.jpg
added the pointy rivets and the pistol port covers

so it now looks like this

Hi Simon
Coming together well now. Steve's right about barrels without vertical seams. The pyrogravure has earned it's keep. Did you make those pointy rivets individually or do you have a special tool for them?

Steve/Jim - the barrel still has normal mould lines to remove but at least it is simpler than a full join line

The big pointy rivets are provided in the kit. I have made some in the past though by sanding the end of a rod to a point and sawing off

Hi Simon
I kind of imagined drilling a conical hole in a scrap of plastic and using that as a mould to push in putty to make the rivets. Being provided in the kit is not nearly as interesting :smiling:

Mr. T, nice touch on the interlocking armor plates and weld seams. I noticed them untouched in an earlier post but thought I'd wait and see if you were going to work you magic...:thumb2:

Sorry Jim - I could always cut them off and scratch some replacements.....

Hi Rick - I think most of the kit detail would have been lost under paint as the marks were quite feint. Not anymore :smiling5:

Nice work Mr T :thumb2: . I’ll have to pick up some of the Aber MG barrels as they do look good.
I thought for a mo that it was a toon tank as a couple of the pictures look a bit squished :smiling5:
