Spanner 570's Airfix 1/72 Battle of Britain Lancaster B III....With a twist!

Initial drilling and filing I still might be able to whittle a bit more plastic.
He drops it on the floor, steps back, stands on it, picks it up, swears loudly and then expects us to believe his cock and bull story!!!
And what's worse - we do believe him :smiling: :rolling::smiling:

Ooh , a cutaway , lovely . As you rightly say Ron its crazy to have a full interior and have it all closed up and unseen . Its different where you can leave a canopy open on fighters but on bombers like this only about 5% of the details can be seen through the heavily framed canopy . The cutaway reminds me of the ones they used to show in the middle of the Tamiya catalogue years ago , think it was François Verlinden that did their featured dios and stuff.

Thanks chaps.

As can be seen with this B-17 I hacked about, there can be plenty of scope for a 'Cut Away'

Not so the Lancaster. Apart from the cockpit area, there is just basically an empty fuselage. The turrets are a bit naff, so pointless exposing them. Lucky me! So I will be concentrating my meagre efforts around the cockpit area. I've made a start by cutting out a big chunk of the airframe. Also, adding 'Things' from my bits bag. I haven't gone for complete accuracy. Such things are beyond my skills. More a 'near enough'. I've simply aimed at adding a bit more interest to the otherwise basic interior.

Loose fitted to the port fuselage side.

I've had to sacrifice the starboard side, including a diddy engineer's seat and his small instrument panel. As can be seen, the port side holds a lot more detail. So the starboard side had to go......

Still more stuff to add. Rough as a bear's a**e, but we are up and running - I hope!

Great work so far Ron, and doing a cut out means less of the external camo to paint. Genius.

If that's as rough as a Bear's posterior, then I can't wait to see the finished article!

Almost there...

I've added the pilot's harness (made from paper) and added further 'Bits'. The maps look naff, but hey ho....

I've also stuck on the starboard fuselage side.

Now it's buttoned up, I can have a blimp and see where I can add some more things.

Cheers.
