Spanner's Airfix 1/72 Fw190 A-8. Eastern Front.

Finished.
Squeeky clean, just as the ground crew steps away......

I will add some weathering, a simple base etc. when I put some new images in Al's 'Completed'

A bit of history.....
The model is of No. 7 JG 54 during the winter on the Russian Front during WW2. Their aircraft were painted in various schemes. White paint was applied all over the upper surface over the factory colours or simply in white patches directly over the original colours. There was no 'Standard'. I've used an all over white, except where the upper main wing decals are. These would have been painted around when the white was applied. Painting the factory colours on the wing decals was a pain.....

About JG 54's boss.
Flying no. 10, Walter 'Nowi' Nowotny was the holder of the Knights Cross with oak leaves, swords and diamonds. He shot down 258 enemy aircraft over the course of 442 combats.
He was killed flying a Me 262 during combat with American escort fighters on November 8th 1944.

Meanwhile here is the finished FW 190.
All brush painted.
After the all over coat of white, I marked out the pattern with a pencil then painted in the patches using the small pots of paint and the brush usually associated with Airfix Starter Packs.
As I didn't have the decals, I've used a bit of licence and used one's from my spares drawer. Not far off in the main.

A bit dark and the white really is white. Sorry about that.

Just noticed that there is a heart on both sides just below the canopy. Are the hearts just accidental or are they a deliberate part of the camo?

First off, thanks to all you wonderful folks for such nice posts. It's made all the hair pulling, cursing and consequent contributions to our mantlepiece RNLI swearbox worth while!

Jim, they are or were, a deliberate part of the camo. of JG 54 and a right pig to pencil on and paint summat like too.....

Cheers and thanks again all.

That is a great result Ron. A very eye catching scheme as well. I like that you once again found sum'it different.

Thanks Ian. I'm well happy you like the camouflage.

As you mention, when I do a G.B., I always try and go off on a tangent and root out summat genuine and different.

Especially so for this very special G.B......

Thanks again.
