Whilst waiting for paint to dry on the Trench Digger, I thought about what to build next - I had intended to build the HobbyBoss Nagmachon, but I decided I didn't want to do two large builds in succession, so I've selected this:

A bit different to the 770 parts of the trench digger - one sprue & a tiny PE fret................
The colour schemes are pretty simple

The overall aluminium paint of A & B don't appeal to me, neither does the overall green of E, so it's either the Belgian C, or the Swedish D.
I'll start building this later in the week, when the large trench digger trundles away..............

I reckon the rigging will take twice as long as the build itself. Looks a fun subject.

The glider won't look complete without rigging - the plastic may only take a day to assemble & paint, but I can see the rigging taking a little longer..........

Made a start on this.............................

It's surprisingly large! ( wing just dry fitted ) What immediately becomes apparent is that you have to rig this. The tailplane wobbles around, like a dog wagging it's tail! You have to have rigging to brace the whole structure. I knew it was going to be flimsy, but not that bad. I was going to rig with monofilament fishing line of 0.18mm diameter, but I think I'll have to go a bit bigger for the static rigging & keep the smaller stuff for the control cables. - I have some other monofilaments, just a matter of finding them! I also realise that I need some CA accelerator for this particular build, so some on order. I can go ahead and start the painting I've decided on the Belgian version ( 'C' ) which has doped linen wings & tail, with varnished wood 'fuselage' with black metal fittings. The seat is the largest bit to assemble - 4 pieces that seemed to defy TET and Blue glue, but liked Contacta.
The tailplane looks grubby because I tried some pre-shading on the ribs, to see if that worked - It didn't, so most of it got wiped off.............

Bit difficult to replicate that transparency!

All the plastic parts basecoated etc - but there are a load of PE control horns to add. It looks a little pale at the moment, I may add a slight yellow tint to the satin varnish topcoat..............

I'm really not sure how this is going to pan out, the structural wires shouldn't be a problem, it's the control wires that will be the real headache.
Here's a frightening thought -Special Hobby do this in 1/72 as well!

Looking good. Perhaps invest in some thin ezee line for the control wires Dave?

'Made a start' and nearly finished, except the rigging of course. But, as you know, the rigging will 'make' this build.
