Spots on the Internet (2021)

Ah...the sine and cosine of it all just to get a tangent...and a headache after Steves reply. :tears-of-joy:

Cheers,
Richard

Not exactly spots on the internet, but you may want to keep an eye out for some TV programs
They appear on 'Talking Pictures' channel and have the prefix IWM ...............
They can be out & out propaganda shorts from WWII, or recruiting films ( all very dated & products of their time ) - I saw one recently called 'Streaked Lightning' which showed Lightnings from 74 Sqn. in the early 60's. A recruiting film from the RAF, prewar had some superb film of service biplanes, some of which I had difficulty naming!
These programs are broadcast fairly irregularly, and usually at some godforsaken hour, so a recorder is essential.
Often the dialogue is stilted, but you can see contemporary eguipment in use...........

I’ve seen a few of these over the years Dave. Squadron 992 is worth the time if you come across it. It’s about deployment of a barrage balloon unit and shows kit in action that is not commonly seen.

Price seems to be £6.60 ( + p&p ), which for 5 colours & matt varnish is pretty good ( OK they're 12ml bottles ). I wonder who is the manufacturer - Hataka?

From MiniArt - 'new model coming soon'

Motley crew, more like it - although Lee W hints at a film connection ( which is lost on me! ).
Sounds like a bad joke - A Frenchman, an Australian, an American, an Englishman and an African find a tank.........................

Dave,

Lulubelle - was featured in a film called "Sahara".

Personally, never seen the film so couldn't say what the storyline is!! :tongue-out3:

HTH,

Paul.
:smiling:

Not a film I’ve seen or heard of either, and I like old black and white movies?

Going by the tank commander, this seems to be based on the 1995 film with Jim Belushi, not the 1943 film with Humphrey Bogart that it’s a remake of.

I’ve seen the former once, long ago, and I think I’ve seen part of the latter when I came across it on TV once upon a time. Certainly not bad movies, worth the watch if war movies with tanks are your thing.

Weak story line - original was Bogart as a US tank commander during the retreat from El Alamein, no water so must find some in the desert. Pick up mixed bag of nationalities/ personalities as they go - oh, and fight the dastardly Nazis on the way! All live happily ever after as the water fairy smiles benevolently on them just in time!

Still prefer Ice Cold in Alex !! or the epic Lawrence of Arabia :smiling: :tongue-out3:

Paul.
:smiling:

Ice Cold in Alex -superb! LoA equally superb but infinitely more sweeping in scope! Love them both (and Full Metal Jacket!)

Well I’ll add “the cruel sea” and “In which we serve” then.......just to get the Andrew involved.

No malice intended but 'The Ship That Died of Shame' was worthwhile and 'We Dive at Dawn' for the proud wearers of the 'Queens Legs'. For wingy people what would be your choice (Battle of Britain notwithstanding of course!)?
