Coming off the flat wagon like that? There are pictures of that sort of thing being done, IIRC, but most I can remember are with a pile of sleepers along the side of it to make it a lot easier. Why are they doing it with the tank basically combat-ready, though? (Machine gun on the hatch, no cover on the muzzle brake, turret rotated, etc.)

Doing it that way would almost certainly derail the wagon……..and probably damage it’s running gear at the same time…..wouldn’t do a lot for the tank when it hits the ground nose first I should think either.

And I can't imagine the crew being exactly ecstatic if they lose a couple of track pins. Jacko's right - a stack of sleepers staggered down from the wagon bed would be the way to go.

I seem to recall a highly regarded tank commander under air attack tried this unprepped maneuver & rolled his Tiger II.

Looking at the picture a bit more I'd say that the train is derailed after an attacked, maybe looking for a quick escape?!

. Any idea what this is? " ZiL-131 Car with a kung" Googling 'kung' only comes up with an African Tribe, or the martial art!
That was posted on Nov 4th - I've just found out what Kung means!

My thoughts exactly as soon as I saw the picture ;)
Looking again, I wonder how the wagon and grey panzer in the background got across the field without digging in, unless it’s the Border models logo….. :tongue-out3: Quite a strange illustration really…..

Love it chaps you don't think your all reading a bit to much into it its box top illustration a bit of artistic licence ,not look at it and go yeh as if that could happen ,let's be honest they have to large it up a bit to make theirs stand out on the shelf from the other hundreds of mk 4's ,im not sure if I'm reading to much into it now but the panzer grey one at the back I think is there as one of the four schemes of markings(as quoted on the box).
As I said love it dont think it upset you all much as the Chinese tank?with the San Francisco bridge in the background.

The old Matchbox Bf 109 E also had Romanian markings, I always thought they looked better than the German crosses :)
