Hello all,

I've been quietly adding fresh ideas and finishing bits off to try and make the place look a bit more lived in and 'Used' so to speak....

I've finished the fencing and added a diddy gate. The lavoir now has a fence too, to prevent the ladies falling in the stream whilst carrying the laundry!

I had some plastic card left over from the strip of slabs along the lock , so I've cut these into individual slabs and are now propped up against the wall for sale as a job lot.....

I've also made a second stack of timber of a thinner size than the first.

The lock gates now have walk boards to get to the other side of the lock.

I have added a little bench in the corner by the memorial so the old geezers can have a smoke and a natter! Plus a bit of fence to finish the corner off.

All the woodwork is Dave's (gern) coffee stirrers cut into various sizes.

That's it for now and any comments or suggestions are always most welcome......Just had a look at the gate, it looks B****y awful, so all say "Goodby gate."!!!!!

Cheers,

Ron

Quite right ole, it really is naff. I made it late last night, I guess I was tired...Sometimes things don't show up bad until they appear enlarged in a photo, anyway it will be history tomorrow!

Glad you like the rest though!

Ron

Amazing work, there are even spacers between the lumber.

The buildings walls look so fantastic and real

Hopefully the gate will get recycled into the scene, it looks like a bit of work has gone into it.

I agree on the gate Ron. May i suggest that you put a style in there and a post with a footpath sign on it right next to it mate. Should be a quick and easy efective mod. Otherwise, awesome work mate.

Aaron, thanks for your comments, good idea to recycle the gate, even if it's just lying about or propped up in a corner.......Putting spacers between the lengths of timber was my very first job when I was an apprentice joiner, and woe betide if I didn't get them nice and neat....Usually a quick flick across the back side from a well aimed handsaw!!!!

Andy, a style is a cracking idea, I'll get to it tomorrow and thanks for suggesting it.

Ron

Think the gate only needed one diagonal Ron ...... Andys' idea of a style is a bit more European and will fit nicely methinks..

Other than that it's looking quite awesome mate :)

I'll be glad to get back onto some scratched scenery ... all i've been doing for the last few days is figures and more figures ... me brain and eyes 'urt.

Thread owner
Colin, funny you should mention the diagonals, initially I did fit just one, but it looked too upright, hence the two at less of an angle........Should have binned the bloody thing in the first place!!!!!!!!

I'll be doing the exact opposite to you soon....off the scratch work onto figures and more figures. My brain is hurting just thinking about it, 'specially in 1/72!!!

Ron

Lets have some water in that dry lock Ron. The fish are thirsty mate hehe

oh yeah ... this is one-seventytooths isn't it? ... you forget that what with all the detail you manage to cram in.... dont worry i can offer counceling sessions for you if needed. :) :)

It all looks amazingly realistic to me. I wish I had such diorama skills!

I'm busting a gut wanting to add the water, it's just that I'm twitchy about doing it before everything is complete, except of course, the figures. It'll only take a smudge or spilt ale to ruin the shine, so I will leave it a while longer......

Patience dear boy, patience!lol

Cheers,

Ron

Thanks Trey, how's that son of yours shaping up with his model making?

Alex, thanks for your comments, much appreciated......Get yourself sat down and have a go, you might well be pleasantly surprised just what you can achieve.....Got to try first mind, if you get my meaning!

Right, after seeing that feeble attempt at a gate and seeing as 'ow you people agreed just how bad it was...it's gone, but I will try and alter it and place it somewhere on the dio., we'll see.

I took note of Andy's great idea for a stile and sign post, but took it one stage further and added the village name sign. And, for a bit of fun, named the place in honour of the man himself for his suggestion, well the almost French version.......!

Here are a couple of pictures.

Cheers,

Ron
