Airfix 1/600 Tirpitz turned around and brush painted in her winter camouflage. I painted a water colour background on a large piece of card.

....and a reminder of how she looked in the summer.

Thanks fellas.
I'm trying to get myself back in the groove, so for starters, I painted the winter camo. on this!

Fantastic work ron , both the boat and your watercolour skills ! Cheers tony

Great stuff Ron. Love your background. A superb money saver as well - you just keep painting the same model to fit in with the season. Only downside, of course, is that in a few years you'll have a very fat Tirpitz :smiling2:

Excellent, Ron. The winter cammo really complements the summer one. Interesting to see the differences.

570 .
What can anyone add to the comments like that .
Matron was beside herself ( not a common occurrence ) and had to be given a large Gin. After rousing the Committee from the bar they fully agreed with her and have awarded you

Very nice indeed Ron, the background really complements the camo on the ship.

Hi Ron. Question. (Please ignore my ignorance). Absolutely brilliant, both war canoe and background by the way. Just awesome.

Question - Did the big German battle ships use that or similar colour schemes?

Thanks Doug. and Tim.

Doug. Thanks for the question.

Tirpitz had many colour schemes.
She spent most of her short life in the Norwegian Fjords. 'A Fleet in being', She had to be constantly watched by the Allies in case she broke out in to the Atlantic and attacked convoys.
Because she was mostly at anchor, she had to be painted to match the shoreline which she hugged. Hence the changing colours to match the seasons.

I spotted these patterns on the internet. Take a look at WW2 German Battleship Camouflage. Some weird painting. At one time Tirpitz was painted like a row of houses! Now there's a challenge!

Cheers chaps.

'Fraid not Tim. In September 1943, she was also attacked by midget submarines. The attack severely damaged the ship....
