Thank you very much Richard!That's it. Part of the fun of scratchery is the thinking process searching for alternatives that are lying around the house to make from. Once painted over nobodies going to know what it was made from.
Andy, to build up the arm you can glue thin layers of card until the right thickness then putty and sand to shape.
