Cheers Scottie.

Working out a design for the shield consisting of quarters, with stripes in two and eagles in the others. Depends on the Miniart decals (sunk before we start then).

Morning Peter

Super colour work on the tunic, it is really "sumptuous", it has visual texture and doesn't need any gold.

This really is a cracker, Peter, back at the top of your game again with the bigger 1:10 busts.

Still awful weather here, the cricket has been washed out, so it seems we are ALL getting wet!

No let up either for the next few days too!

Enjoy your visitors and the painting when you can

Regards

Morning Steve

Glad you like the way this is turning out. I must say, I'm enjoying doing it - the scope available after 1/16 seems huge.

First appointment at foot clinic today - don't ask, suffice to say that the poor old dog has been missing out on his walks of late.

Hi Peter
Have fun at the foot clinic. Did you say grand child was visiting as well? Anything like mine and although I love to spend time with her the wife and I need a day to recover!! :tongue-out3: ...... and she's a good, well behaved little girl.
I love this bust. Your painting is pure quality and the subject is quirky and colourful. Good luck with the shield - you'll sort it.

Hi Jim

Had a lot of trouble with my feet in the last year or so, and being diabetic, it's something I have to be careful of - I hate ageing!!

Granddaughter is 11 months old and quite a handful, though wonderful of course. She and my daughter will be here for a week or so, so major exhaustion beckons (my daughter is perhaps harder work!)..

Glad you like the bust - the shield is working out so far.

Hi Peter
Sorry about the rather flippant comment about the foot clinic. I did not realise that it was 'medical'. I go to a foot care lady just for cossetting and I thought your visit was the same. I hope your visit shows all is well.

No problem Jim - Upshot of the visit is an appointment to see a specialist in a couple of weeks time.

Here is the front of the shield so far:

The quarters and diagonals were first drawn on with a pencil, then the paint was applied freehand. For once, the Miniart decals went on like a dream. I've added a bit of weathering and may do a bit more

Peter

definitely one of your best faces, and a really colourful bust. Very nicely done.

Jim - Thanks, it will of course be facing backwards, which is perhaps a bonus.

John - Very kind of you. Verlinden have managed to put a lot of character into the sculpt, which always makes things easier.

Hi Peter
Late on parade and lingering at the back with the naughty rabble members.Ive never seen this particular bust mate.Missed a lot of the Verlinden ones.Really is an eyecatcher though and different which is pleasing on the eyes colourwise.I feel for you with the feet,Mine play me up with pain and itching and numb toes.I got my Retinopathy eyetest next week my first. The old sights not been great and sculptings no go for now.
Hope you feel better soon mate.
Look after yourself.
Rich.

Hi Richard. Glad you like this chap. It's getting hard to find these Verlinden busts now - Historex are selling the last of their stocks off at £18.85 and there aren't many left.

Sorry that the eyes are playing you up - hopefully the tests will not reveal too much damage. My eyes are pretty bad focus wise now, and I find myself working without glasses and in extreme close up most of the time. I can only really get a proper look at my work through reading glasses - bit of a weird situation..

Hi Pete.
Just love the choice of colours, seem to mix well .As for the shield , well just the dogs !

Hi Peter
Up there with my favourites of yours. The shield makes interest from all viewpoints rather like the equipment on a modern soldier.
Jim

Hi Peter - I'm another that's never seen this particular bust before

Bit of an odd looking uniform but nicely painted as usual

Cheers Simon

Freaky looking get-up indeed. I would imagine this was more private attire than uniform - they tried to out-do eachother in flamboyance, a bit like the Landsknechts.
